Soluções baseadas em redes de comunicação podem ser aplicadas nas mais diversas áreas, tais como a Televisão Digital e comunicação entre dispositivos móveis. O presente artigo se propõe a descrever os estudos e experimentos realizados no desenvolvimento de um servidor IPTV na Faculdade Católica do Tocantins (FACTO) para distribuir conteúdo institucional na Internet, utilizando um servidor Video on Demand (VoD) e uma página web como meio de acesso ao streaming de vídeo disponibilizados pelo servidor.   Solutions based on communication networks can be applied in the most diverse areas, such as Digital Television and communication between mobile devices. This paper proposes to describe the studies and experiments carried out in the development of an IPTV server at Faculdade Católica do Tocantins (FACTO) to distribute institutional content on the Internet, using a Video on Demand (VoD) server and a web page as a means to access the video streaming made available by the server.

This paper firstly analyses the related technology in video on demand system, then analysis the flow scheduling and advanced VOD system and proposes a new scheduling algorithm, simulation results on scheduling algorithm. The experimental results are analyzed. The paper presents research on application of VOD technology and scheduling algorithm in VOD server system. Finally, this paper implements a basic video on demand system. Experimental results show that the proposed method has high efficiency.

To solve the problem of the bandwidth bottleneck in the traditional IPTV Vod system during the peak hours, the NOVA system is designed which is a P2P-Cloud Vod system with collaborative pre-deployment module based on recommendation scheme, according to the particular user behavior and the regionalization deployment of STBs. The NOVA system pre-deploy the VoD contents which are recommended on the STBs of the region during idle hours, and the STBs in the same region strengthen data collaboration using P2P protocol which results in the reducing of the bandwidth of the VoD server. The experiment shows that the bandwidth can be reduced by more than 20-40% during peak hours by NOVA.
