The Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) jointly organize the sixth International conference on Advanced Technology and Applied Sciences (ICaTAS 2021), October 2021. The conference is held at AASTMT, Egypt. The conference highlights recent and significant advances in research and development in advanced technology, applied sciences, and interdisciplinary works. Encouraging young researcher from multi-discipline engineering background to share their new and innovative ideas and/or findings is the aim of the conference. With participation of a large number of young researchers, it can be a platform for new collaborative ventures and strategic alliances to gain better insights into engineering research and technology innovation to harness the strength and synergies to bring further prosperity to the nations. Incidental Music, Part 2

John Eccles's active theatrical career spanned a period of about sixteen years, though he continued to compose occasionally for the theater after his semi-retirement in 1707. During his career he wrote incidental music for more than seventy plays, writing songs that fit perfectly within their dramatic contexts and that offered carefully tailored vehicles for his singers’ talents while remaining highly accessible in tone. This edition includes music composed by Eccles for plays beginning with the letters H–P. These plays were fundamentally collaborative ventures, and multiple composers often supplied the music; thus, this edition includes all the known songs and instrumental items for each play. Plot summaries of the plays are given along with relevant dialogue cues, and the songs are given in the order in which they appear in the drama (when known).

Researching Change and Changing: Integrating Collaboration and Action Through Interiority

In this essay, we are arguing that the field of organizational change and development is positioned to face the challenges of researching change and changing for the next decade and beyond. The core values in the field—that researching change and enacting changing are collaborative ventures undertaken in the present tense where the outcome is actionable knowledge, and that it serves the practical ends of organizations and generates the knowledge of how organizations change—are of utmost relevant for the emerging workplace and organizations. Through differentiated consciousness interiority challenges the polarizations that beset the field (between science and practice) and provides an integrative process focused on the operations of human knowing.

Collaborative Anthropology Today

As multisited research has become mainstream in anthropology, collaboration has gained new relevance and traction as a critical infrastructure of both fieldwork and theory, enabling more ambitious research designs, forms of communication, and analysis. This book is the outcome of a 2017 workshop held at the Center for Ethnography, University of California, Irvine. It is the latest in a trilogy. The authors assemble several notable ventures in collaborative anthropology and put them in dialogue with one another as a way of exploring the recent surge of interest in creating new kinds of ethnographic and theoretical partnerships, especially in the domains of art, media, and information. The chapters highlight projects in which collaboration has generated new possibilities of expression and conceptualizations of anthropological research, as well as prototypes that may be of use to others contemplating their own experimental collaborative ventures.

21. Decolonizing and Indigenizing Discourses in a Canadian Context

Adrienne S. Chan describes her role, when working in Canada, to embed decolonized perspectives and better include indigenous peoples within community. The funded study uses collaborative ventures to facilitate greater awareness of assumptions and difference and promote greater cultural awareness between groups and within institutions.

Conflict Management and Resolution in Context of Educational Institutes

Conflict has been an integral part of collaborative ventures. Educational institutes comprise multiple integrated key activities such as teaching, learning, student management, examination, result declaration along with several administrative tasks. It has also been observed that generally stakeholders do not have formal training to deal with such issues and sometimes lack of knowledge and skills to address the disagreements efficiently adversely affects the overall productivity. Conflicts can occur in various forms starting from verbal dialogue and escalated up to physical confrontations resulting in spoiled relationships. An institutional framework should be designed and must be made transparent, so that all stakeholders understand their roles and responsibilities at the institutions. The obligation and constraint defined clearly can act as an essential tool in de-escalation of conflict. This chapter aims at understanding the modes of conflict, reasons behind conflict, and then designing a framework for conflict management in educational institutes.

Tamiris, Helen (1902–1966)

Helen Tamiris was a key figure in the development of American modern dance; along with Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, and Hanya Holm, she helped to forge the art form. Born Helen Becker to an immigrant Russian Jewish family on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, she was introduced to dance at the Henry Street Settlement House. After a brief stint in the ballet world and on the commercial stage, she gained recognition as a concert dancer with a suite of dances set to Negro Spirituals. These signature works established her reputation as a choreographic voice for the oppressed; themes of social protest inspired her throughout her career. As a political activist she promoted collective bargaining for dancers, organized collaborative ventures with other early modern dancers, and led the campaign to create a Federal Dance Project for unemployed dancers during the Depression years. She was unusual among early moderns in her desire to reach a broad popular audience, and in the 1940s and 1950s choreographed a succession of Broadway musicals, receiving critical acclaim for choreography in shows such as Annie Get Your Gun and Plain and Fancy. Her political engagement and her success in bridging the divide between high art and popular culture distinguish her among American modern dancers.

What Collaborators Want: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluating Research Collaborations

This article describes an approach to planning, monitoring and evaluating research collaborations based on a structured approach to eliciting and measuring the value that each partner seeks to derive from the collaboration. During the phase of formulating the collaborative arrangements, the process can bring clarity to the initial expectations of each partner and so, possibly avoid prospective difficulties from the outset. During the course of the collaboration, it provides a means of assessing where improvements in the relationship might be needed. And at the end of the project, it provides a basis for assessing what has worked well, and what might need to be considered carefully in a future collaboration. The process also provides a basis for benchmarking collaborative ventures, based on ratings associated with the critical drivers of successful partnerships. Part of the process is studied in the context of the formation of a collaboration relating to cyber security research.
