Tourists’ real-time destination image of Kuala Lumpur

Purpose This paper aims to capture real-time images of tourists during their visitation. This effort is to clarify a debate among scholars that there is a lack of current effort to genuinely represent an accurate image of the tourist experience during their visit. Previous studies on destination image focused on measuring and successfully capturing the tourists' perceived image using the perspective of “before and after” visitation. Design/methodology/approach The paper applies volunteer-employed photography and questionnaire methods to capture real-time tourist images. The paper was conducted in Kuala Lumpur, involving 384 international tourists. The data are analysed by supplemental photo analysis, was categorised into manifest and latent content. Findings The paper provides empirical insights into the changes in tourists' image when visiting an urban destination. The insights suggest that a city's image during visitation continuously changes based on the tourists' movement and preferences. Practical implications The findings of this paper are critical in assisting tourism agencies and authorities in portraying an accurate image to achieve greater tourism satisfaction. Originality/value This paper contributes to the interpretation and portrayal of the real-time image of Kuala Lumpur based on the manifest and latent content of the photos taken.

EFFICIENT LINE DETECTION METHOD BASED ON 2D CONVOLUTION FILTER

The article proposes an efficient line detection method using a 2D convolution filter. The proposed method was compared with the Hough transform, the most popular method of straight lines detection. The developed method is suitable for local detection of straight lines with a slope from -45˚ to 45˚. Also, it can be used for curve detection which shape is approximated with the short straight sections. The new method is characterized by a constant computational cost regardless of the number of set pixels. The convolution is performed using the logical conjunction and sum operations. Moreover, design of the developed filter and the method of filtration allows for parallelization. Due to constant computation cost, the new method is suitable for implementation in the hardware structure of real-time image processing systems.

Structure from motion with planar homography estimation: a real-time low-bandwidth, high-resolution variant for aerial reconnaissance

We propose a new algorithm variant for Structure from Motion (SfM) to enable real-time image processing of scenes imaged by aerial drones. Our new SfM variant runs in real-time at 4 Hz equating to an 80× computation time speed-up compared to traditional SfM and is capable of a 90% size reduction of original video imagery, with an added benefit of presenting the original two-dimensional (2D) video data as a three-dimensional (3D) virtual model. This opens many potential applications for a real-time image processing that could make autonomous vision–based navigation possible by completely replacing the need for a traditional live video feed. The 3D reconstruction that is generated comes with the added benefit of being able to generate a spatially accurate representation of a live environment that is precise enough to generate global positioning system (GPS) coordinates from any given point on an imaged structure, even in a GPS-denied environment.

Art Design of the Real-Time Image Interactive Interface of the Advertising Screen Based on Augmented Reality and Visual Communication

Augmented reality refers to the use of new display technology, multimedia technology, and human-computer interaction technology to superimpose computer-generated virtual objects, virtual scenes, or various system prompts into the real scene, so as to achieve integration with the surrounding environment of the user. The user can visually feel that the superimposed virtual information is a part of the real environment around him. Under the technology of augmented reality and visual communication, this article achieves the art design of the real-time image interactive interface of the advertising screen, digitally enhances the real situation, enriches the visual sense of the advertising audience, and turns the advertisement into an interactive form. This article analyzes the specific content of the composition, graphics, color, proportion, brightness, and design principles in the advertisement. We conduct a questionnaire survey and combine them according to the above 6 indicators. Query a large number of documents for analysis, and conduct a theoretical analysis of the real-time interactive image interface design of the advertising screen based on augmented reality technology. According to the experimental results obtained in this study, the data shows the P value of the scores of the six age groups on the text in the advertisement is less than 0.05. There is a significant difference; at the same time, the P value of each index in the advertisement is also less than 0.05. The significant difference indicates that the legibility of the text is an important factor in the text interaction in the interactive interface.
