AbstractA lot of attention has been paid recently to the study of mixtures and also to the Moore–Gibson–Thompson (MGT) type equations or systems. In fact, the MGT proposition can be used to describe viscoelastic materials. In this paper, we analyze a problem involving a mixture composed by a MGT viscoelastic type material and an elastic solid. To this end, we first derive the system of equations governing the deformations of such material. We give the suitable assumptions to obtain an existence and uniqueness result. The semigroups theory of linear operators is used. The paper concludes by proving the exponential decay of solutions with the help of a characterization of the exponentially stable semigroups of contractions and introducing an extra assumption. The impossibility of location is also shown.

Abstract A Halanay inequality with distributed delay of non-convolution type is considered. We establish a decay of solutions as a Mittag-Leffler function composed with a logarithmic function. A general sufficient condition is found and a large class of admissible retardation kernels is provided. This needs the preparation of several lemmas on properties of the Hadamard derivative and some basic fractional differential problems with this kind of derivative. The obtained result is then applied to a Hopfield neural network system to discuss its stability.

We consider a nonlinear Petrovsky equation in a bounded domain with a strong dissipation, and prove the existence and the uniqueness of the solution using the energy method combined with the Faedo-Galerkin procedure under certain assumptions. Furthermore, we study the asymptotic behaviour of the solutions using a perturbed energy method.

In this paper, we consider the initial boundary value problem for the p-Laplacian equation with weak and p-Laplacian damping terms, nonlinear boundary, delay and source terms acting on the boundary. By introducing suitable energy and perturbed Lyapunov functionals, we prove global existence, finite time blow up and asymptotic behavior of solutions in cases p > 2 and p = 2. To our best knowledge, there is no results of the p-Laplacian equation with a nonlinear boundary delay term.

This paper presents the optimality of decay estimate of solutions to the initial value problem of 1D Schrödinger equations containing a long-range dissipative nonlinearity, i.e., λ | u | 2 u. Our aim is to obtain the two results. One asserts that, if the L 2 -norm of a global solution, with an initial datum in the weighted Sobolev space, decays at the rate more rapid than ( log t ) − 1 / 2 , then it must be a trivial solution. The other asserts that there exists a solution decaying just at the rate of ( log t ) − 1 / 2 in L 2 .

This article deals with the study of the higher-order Kirchhoff-type equation with delay term in a bounded domain with initial boundary conditions, where firstly, we prove the global existence result of the solution. Then, we discuss the decay of solutions by using Nakao’s technique and denote polynomially and exponentially. Furthermore, the blow-up result is established for negative initial energy under appropriate conditions.

AbstractThis paper is devoted to studying the linear system of partial differential equations modelling a one-dimensional thermo-porous-elastic problem with microtemperatures in the context of the dual-phase-lag heat conduction. Existence, uniqueness, and exponential decay of solutions are proved. Polynomial stability is also obtained in the case that the relaxation parameters satisfy a certain equality. Our arguments are based on the theory of semigroups of linear operators.
