To develop a waterborne wooden flooring coating, the existing problems of the current waterborne coated wooden floorings were analyzed, and their corresponding solutions were considered. In this paper, based on the final effects of a novel waterborne UV wooden floor coating, the authors used a waterborne UV coating with different solids contents, as well as finishing and drying technology to treat the substrate with different tree species. According to the LY/T standard 1859-2009 (2009) and Q/YFL standard 0035-2018 (2018), the performance of the varnish film of the waterborne UV wooden floor coating was determined. The waterborne coating wooden flooring processes and effects of the varnish film were optimized to provide excellent performance. The performance of the varnish film and the developed waterborne coated wooden flooring met the standard requirements: the surface wear-resistance was less than or equal to 0.15 g/100r, the varnish film hardness was greater than or equal to H, the level of varnish film adhesion was less than or equal to 2, and the total volatile organic compounds was less than or equal to 20 µg/m3. This study provided a demonstration and basis for wooden flooring companies to develop a waterborne wooden floor coating.

In order to prepare high-gloss water-soluble gravure varnish which is used on tipping paper, different content and types of filming resin with different content of all kinds of additives added are used to prepare water-soluble gravure varnish. Test its main performance and then use IGT apparatus to proof. The effect of varnish component and content on glossiness of water-soluble varnish is discussed by measuring glossiness of proof. The results show: different content and types of water-soluble filming resin have a great influence on the glossiness of water-soluble gravure varnish which is used on tipping paper; the glossiness of water-soluble varnish film can improve by adding auxiliaries such as cosolvent, substrate wetting agent, flow agent, wax emulsion and other promoter into water-soluble varnish system.

To enhance the interfacial interaction in silica nanoparticles filled polymer composites , nano-SiO2 gel was prepared by a sol-gel route, and then it was modified in situ through a reaction of silane coupling agent with hydroxyl on the surface of SiO2. The modified nano-SiO2 gel was added to the system of light-cured varnish to prepare UV light-cured nanocomposite varnish. The structures and properties of varnish were studied using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and film performance test. The results showed that the modified nano-SiO2 was well dispersed in the varnish. After introduction of modified nano-SiO2, the fracture morphology of varnish film showed a corrugated shape, indicating the ductile fracture. The wear resistance of the varnish film increased by 50%, the coefficient of static friction reduced about 15%, and gloss improved to some extent.

In this paper, we used water-based acrylic varnish to coat poplar and pinus sylvestris veneer, discussed the inhibition effects of veneer light induced discoloration with two coating ways which were paint coating and film covering. The result showed that, after paint coating or film covering, the lightness aberration of veneer ΔL* and chromatism ΔE*ab were significantly reduced. The inhibition rate of veneer light induced discoloration with film covering was 7.88% higher than that with paint coating, reaching 30.41%.It mainly because of the small change of color index b* of film covered veneer, the water-based varnish film to a certain extent could inhibit the wood photochemical consequences by ray radiation. It’s feasible to study light induced discoloration of coated veneer by the method of film covering.

The glossiness is an important indicator of evaluation polishing printed matter. The water-soluble varnish consisting of different content and kinds of promoter is prepared. Then proofs are coating by wire rods. Measuring glossiness of proofs, we analyze the influence of promoter on glossiness of water-soluble varnish. The results show that adding cosolvent, substrate wetting agent, flow agent, wax emulsion and other promoter in water-soluble varnish can improve the glossiness of water-soluble varnish film. When cosolvent ethanol was adding to 3%, the film glossiness achieves about 80 and adding a small amount of wax emulsion, flow agents, the film glossiness can be increased about 10%.
