Understanding the sediment yield and transport is one of the major topics of hydrosedimentology today. Although there are several methods to evaluate the incipient movement, the Shields model is mostly-used. However, the model proposed by Shields assumes that the sediments are uniform in an homogeneous and non-cohesive mixture. As such conditions are not easily found in nature, Egiazaroff proposed a sheltering coefficient, which considers the sediments in a non-homogeneous mixture in a wide range of granulometry. This coefficient allows correcting the Shields critical shear stress for nonuniform mixtures and can be used in mountain rivers, where the sediment size varies in several orders of magnitude. The equation proposed by Egiazaroff has been neglected for so many years in Brazil, and it is not mentioned in hydraulics or hydrosedimentology books . Thus, the present paper aimed to introduce the model proposed by Egiazaroff. Applying this equation to one natural river in a canyon, southern Brazil, the paper shows the good performance of this equation and recommends its use in mountain rivers in Brazil.

ABSTRACT Objective: to carry out a documentary study on the legal aspects that support the nurses' performance in the Integrative and Complementary Practices (PIC) and to discuss the panorama of teaching, research, extension and nursing activities in front of PICs. Method: documentary study, whose units of analysis were normative, guidelines, recommendations and clarification notes (n = 17). The data were organized into two categories: "Legal aspects of nurses' performance in ICP and acupuncture" and "Overview of the use of ICPs by nursing in the areas of teaching, research, extension and assistance activities". Results: nurses stand out in the implementation of PIC since the principles of training are congruent to the paradigms of this science, besides having legal support for acting in public and private services in Brazil. There is an incipient movement of nurses working in research and extension in universities, which contributes to the diffusion of knowledge and application of therapies in the community. Conclusion: the institutionalization of PICs in the Unified Health System has increased access and contributed to the provision of comprehensive and multidisciplinary health services. Implications for practice: with ICPs, nurses have achieved autonomy and the possibility of expanding their performance, aiming at a better quality of care.

Abstract This paper presents a systematic review of Brazilian and international studies on the assessment of psychosocial factors, published between 2009 and 2015, with emphasis on the analysis of assessment instruments. One of the main interests of this review was to identify, in the published articles, the use of principles of Positive Psychology in the analysis of factors of prevention, promotion and health protection of workers. A total of 5,724 articles were found. Articles that were repeated or not written in Portuguese, English or Spanish were excluded. Thus, after analysis, 410 articles remained. Of these, 69 articles that dealt directly with the evaluation of psychosocial factors at work were selected. Most studies address the pathogenesis of psychosocial factors, but there is increasing number of studies that combine the analyses of pathogenic factors with motivational factors in health promotion and in the study of preserved positive aspects. We found that although the findings indicate an incipient movement concerning some protective factors (social support, creativity, engagement, etc.), there are still few studies in the Positive Psychology approach. We suggest that further studies test integrative theoretical models or stressors and motivational factors to deepen the understanding of the protective factors and positive aspects associated with psychosocial factors at work.

This chapter is a survey of the dynamics of messianic movements over a period of some two millennia. The most dramatic tests of leadership in the history of the Jewish diaspora have come when an individual presented himself as playing a central role in the process that would bring an end to the exile of the diaspora. The messianic figure — whether claiming to be the actual messiah from the line of David or a prophet or forerunner of the messiah — transcended the accepted categories by which authority has been asserted and expressed in post-biblical Jewish life. However, rooted in traditional texts and expectations, the ideology of the incipient movement may have been, for the individual at its core this claim was by its very nature a radical departure from the norms, a revolutionary challenge to the status quo. This placed the more traditional Jewish leadership, especially the rabbinic authorities, who were structurally bound to a conservative position in society, in a difficult situation.
