Abstract In this paper, we classify the three-dimensional partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms whose stable, unstable, and central distributions $E^s$ , $E^u$ , and $E^c$ are smooth, such that $E^s\oplus E^u$ is a contact distribution, and whose non-wandering set equals the whole manifold. We prove that up to a finite quotient or a finite power, they are smoothly conjugated either to a time-map of an algebraic contact-Anosov flow, or to an affine partially hyperbolic automorphism of a nil- ${\mathrm {Heis}}{(3)}$ -manifold. The rigid geometric structure induced by the invariant distributions plays a fundamental part in the proof.

Let M n , g , f be a complete gradient shrinking Ricci soliton of dimension n ≥ 3 . In this paper, we study the rigidity of M n , g , f with pointwise pinching curvature and obtain some rigidity results. In particular, we prove that every n -dimensional gradient shrinking Ricci soliton M n , g , f is isometric to ℝ n or a finite quotient of S n under some pointwise pinching curvature condition. The arguments mainly rely on algebraic curvature estimates and several analysis tools on M n , g , f , such as the property of f -parabolic and a Liouville type theorem.

Abstract In this article, we study four-dimensional complete gradient shrinking Ricci solitons. We prove that a four-dimensional complete gradient shrinking Ricci soliton satisfying a pointwise condition involving either the self-dual or anti-self-dual part of the Weyl tensor is either Einstein, or a finite quotient of either the Gaussian shrinking soliton ℝ 4 {\mathbb{R}^{4}} , or 𝕊 3 × ℝ {\mathbb{S}^{3}\times\mathbb{R}} , or 𝕊 2 × ℝ 2 . {\mathbb{S}^{2}\times\mathbb{R}^{2}.} In addition, we provide some curvature estimates for four-dimensional complete gradient Ricci solitons assuming that its scalar curvature is suitable bounded by the potential function.

Abstract Let X be a normal compact Kähler space with klt singularities and torsion canonical bundle. We show that X admits arbitrarily small deformations that are projective varieties if its locally trivial deformation space is smooth. We then prove that this unobstructedness assumption holds in at least three cases: if X has toroidal singularities, if X has finite quotient singularities and if the cohomology group ${\mathrm {H}^{2} \!\left ( X, {\mathscr {T}_{X}} \right )}$ vanishes.

We introduce and study the maximal unipotent finite quotient for algebraic group schemes in positive characteristics. Applied to Picard schemes, this quotient encodes unusual torsion. We construct integral Fano threefolds where such unusual torsion actually appears. The existence of such threefolds is surprising, because the torsion vanishes for del Pezzo surfaces. Our construction relies on the theory of exceptional Enriques surfaces, as developed by Ekedahl and Shepherd-Barron. Comment: 29 pages; minor changes

Abstract We prove that every non-degenerate Reeb flow on a closed contact manifold M admitting a strong symplectic filling W with vanishing first Chern class carries at least two geometrically distinct closed orbits provided that the positive equivariant symplectic homology of W satisfies a mild condition. Under further assumptions, we establish the existence of two geometrically distinct closed orbits on any contact finite quotient of M. Several examples of such contact manifolds are provided, like displaceable ones, unit cosphere bundles, prequantisation circle bundles, Brieskorn spheres and toric contact manifolds. We also show that this condition on the equivariant symplectic homology is preserved by boundary connected sums of Liouville domains. As a byproduct of one of our applications, we prove a sort of Lusternik–Fet theorem for Reeb flows on the unit cosphere bundle of not rationally aspherical manifolds satisfying suitable additional assumptions.

We introduce the notion of regular finite decomposition complexity of a metric family. This generalizes Gromov’s finite asymptotic dimension and is motivated by the concept of finite decomposition complexity (FDC) due to Guentner, Tessera and Yu. Regular finite decomposition complexity implies FDC and has all the permanence properties that are known for FDC, as well as a new one called Finite Quotient Permanence. We show that for a collection containing all metric families with finite asymptotic dimension, all other permanence properties follow from Fibering Permanence.
