Machine learning prediction algorithms such as AlphaFold can create remarkably accurate protein models, but these models usually have some regions that are predicted with low confidence or poor accuracy. We hypothesized that by implicitly including experimental information, a greater portion of a model could be predicted accurately, and that this might synergistically improve parts of the model that were not fully addressed by either machine learning or experiment alone. An iterative procedure was developed in which AlphaFold models are automatically rebuilt based on experimental density maps and the rebuilt models are used as templates in new AlphaFold predictions. We find that including experimental information improves prediction beyond the improvement obtained with simple rebuilding guided by the experimental data. This procedure for AlphaFold modeling with density has been incorporated into an automated procedure for crystallographic and electron cryo-microscopy map interpretation.

The conflict between specialisation and personality is the main theme in the novels by Peter Høeg, Vladimir Orlov, Jose Saramago, and Patrick Süskind. The protagonists are brought together in their attempts to find and prove their new identities but quite different problems are discovered in the process. The violinist Kasper Krone, the violist Vladimir Danilov, and the unnamed cellist and the double bassist have their own status in the hierarchy of the musical world: this element of the narrative is a lure for readers who would like to learn the secrets of different professions. Sometimes the ways postmodern authors create images both in correlation with professional stereotypes and drama overcomplicate the plot for the unprepared recipient. For them, the variety of allusions and the brilliant game of intertextuality make no sense; however, this problem can be the reason to seek more information about the aforementioned musical opuses for a better understanding. In this case, readers will build strong links between implicit information and the motives of the protagonist’s behaviour.

The warrant element of the Toulmin model is critical for fact-checking and assessing the strength of an argument. As implicit information, warrants justify the arguments and explain why the evidence supports the claim. Despite the critical role warrants play in facilitating argument comprehension, the fact that most works aim to select the best warrant from existing structured data and labelled data is scarce presents a fact-checking challenge, particularly when the evidence is insufficient, or the conclusion is not inferred or generated well based on the evidence. Additionally, deep learning methods for false information detection face a significant bottleneck due to their training requirement of a large amount of labelled data. Manually annotating data, on the other hand, is a time-consuming and laborious process. Thus, we examine the extent to which warrants can be retrieved or reconfigured using unstructured data obtained from their premises.

<p>The efficient allocation and use of radio resources is crucial for achieving the maximum possible throughput and capacity in wireless networks. The conventional strongest signal-based user association in cellular networks generally considers only the strength of the signal while selecting a BS, and ignores the level of congestion or load at it. As a consequence, some BSs tend to suffer from heavy load, while their adjacent BSs may carry only light load. This load imbalance severely hampers the network from fully utilizing the network capacity and providing fair services to users. In this thesis, we investigate the applicability of the preamble code sequence, which is mainly used for cell identification, as an implicit information indicator for load balancing in cellular networks. By exploiting the high auto-correlation and low cross-correlation property among preamble sequences, we propose distributed load balancing schemes that implicitly obtain information about the load status of BSs, for intelligent association control. This enables the new users to be attached to BSs with relatively low load in the long term, alleviating the problem of non-uniform user distribution and load imbalance across the network. Extensive simulations are performed with various user densities considering throughput fair and resource fair, as the resource allocation policies in each cell. It is observed that significant improvement in minimum throughput and fair user distribution is achieved by employing our proposed schemes, and preamble sequences can be effectively used as a leverage for better cell-site selection from the viewpoint of fairness provisioning. The load of the entire system is also observed to be balanced, which consequently enhances the capacity of the network, as evidenced by the simulation results.</p>

PurposeThis paper examines in detail how the use of storytelling with parallax technology can influence the user experience (UX) in online shops as well as brand- and behavior-relevant variables. Furthermore, this study analyzes the causal relationships between UX, brand attitudes and brand-related behavioral intentions in terms of purchase intention and price premiums. Explicit and implicit paths of human information processing are considered.Design/methodology/approachA sample of 266 respondents completed a web-based experiment under two conditions (text-based vs parallax storytelling online shop). An existing and operational online shop was used. The causal relationships were assessed by using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). To measure implicit information processing, a single category implicit association test was applied.FindingsBy applying the storytelling technique with parallax scrolling, the online shop increased visitors' UX on explicit and implicit information processing levels and increased the online shop's overall perceived attractiveness. Storytelling with parallax motion enables an efficient transmission of brand-related associations to consumers' minds, enhances their explicit and implicit brand attitudes and increases their willingness to pay a higher price. Moreover, this study provides empirical evidence on the effects of UX on brand-related measures by applying PLS-SEM and thus reveals a causal chain of effects from UX on online shop attractiveness, brand attitude and behavioral intentions. Again, explicit and implicit perceptions were considered.Originality/valueScience and practice are increasingly emphasizing that storytelling emotionalizes content, which facilitates effective communication and builds strong relationships with customers. Little evidence exists about its efficient implementation in an online shopping context and in fulfilling hedonic and pragmatic needs throughout the online journey. This study provides novel insights into managing online shoppers' UX, brand-related perceptions and behavioral intentions with the optimal use of techniques to implement storytelling. Furthermore, this is one of the first studies to holistically consider the human perception of online shops by drawing on theories and methods of psychology, marketing, consumer behavior, brand research and consumer neuroscience and considering explicit and implicit information processing in terms of hedonic and pragmatic UX and brand-related measures.

The most known and used abstract model of the financial market is based on the concept of the informational efficiency (EMH) of that market. The paper proposes an alternative which could be named the behavioural efficiency of the financial market, which is based on the behavioural entropy instead of the informational entropy. More specifically, the paper supports the idea that, in the financial market, the only measure (if any) of the entropy is the available behaviours indicated by the implicit information. Therefore, the behavioural entropy is linked to the concept of behavioural efficiency. The paper argues that, in fact, in the financial markets, there is not a (real) informational efficiency, but there exists a behavioural efficiency instead. The proposal is based both on a new typology of information in the financial market (which provides the concept of implicit information—that is, that information ”translated” by the economic agents from observing the actual behaviours) and on a non-linear (more exactly, a logistic) curve linking the behavioural entropy to the behavioural efficiency of the financial markets. Finally, the paper proposes a synergic overcoming of both EMH and AMH based on the new concept of behavioural entropy in the financial market.

One of the urgent problems in professional music education is the lack of a system and mechanisms for the formation of a holistic world picture and systemic personality development of students. The reasons are: inconsistency in the teaching of musical and humanitarian disciplines; training without taking into account the specific personal characteristics of the musicians. This article presents a model of music students’ cognitive activity, built from the standpoint of systemic, personal, activity and contextual approaches. The proposed model of the students-musicians cognitive activity is based on the specific features of the musicians’ cognitive sphere revealed by the method of theoretical analysis. The students-musicians cognitive activity model is presented as a combination of intuitive, logical and transitional modes, in each of which implicit information processing and decision-making are manifested with varying degrees of activity; explicit reproduction of knowledge and decision making, explicit modeling of musical activity. The experience of applying the model in practice has led to the transformation of psychological and pedagogical knowledge in musical activity and the world picture of students.
