This study aims to determine the criteria for questions with the type of matchmaking, reasoned plural choice, and causality that can increase HOTS on Newton's Law material about high school physics motion. This research was conducted at MAN 2 Tangerang by using class X, which consisted of two classes. The product developed from this research is the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) test instrument using Research and Development. The test instruments used were matchmaking, reasoned plural choice, and causality on Newton's Laws of motion in high school physics lessons. Data collection techniques in this development use a questionnaire and Newton's Law of Motion test. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using the Rasch model with the help of Ministep 4.5.1 software. The results showed that the test instrument for higher-order thinking skills on Newton's Law of motion material uses information, pictures, graphics, or data to solve problems, describe information in detail, relate one concept to another, and look for links from different information. can train students' higher-order thinking skills.

This research was aimed to produce students worksheet (LKPD) based on PhET Interactive Simulations Software in cognitive through the application of physics-based guided discovery learning model that is devoted to the concept of Newton's Law of Motion. Guided Discovery-based approach is expected and is believed to develop students' skills in various aspects of one study that showed achievement levels mastery of physics students after participating in the learning process under the expected educational purposes. Researchers conducted a study on the process of learning physics for the discovery-oriented at vocational senior high school students in Newton's law of motion with R&D. Subjects were students of class X TKRO in the first semester of the academic year 2018-2019 in vocational high school in Ciamis, West Java Province as many as 35 students. Data collected through tests, observations and interviews.

The ability to solve physics problems is one of the goals in learning physics and a part of the current curriculum demands. One of the physics problems that are often the focus of attention in learning is Newton's law of motion. When solving physics problems on Newton's law of motion, students need to utilize various aspects of certain abilities and rules. The purpose of this study was to reveal how the students utilized aspects of the abilities and rules in problem-solving. The study was conducted by providing physics problems on Newton's law of motion to 105 high school students. The result showed that most students were able to write equations, solutions, and system of units correctly for each problem. However, students’ ability to determine the coordinate axes, depicts free-body diagrams, forces representation, and determine the resultant forces and direction of motion was unsatisfactory. Students tended to refer to the mathematical formulations in solving the problems. Therefore, physics learning that requires students to actively learn collaboratively, peer instruction, and procedural thinking can be used as an alternative learning strategy to overcome said problems.

The aim of this study is to investigate the difficulties experienced by students on the concept of Newton’s Law of Motion. The method used is descriptive analysis with a sample of 14 students who take Mechanics Course on Physics Education Study Porgram, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Samawa University. The data was collected by essai test. Based on the test result show that (1) students have difficulty in integrating mathematical equation. (2) students was unable to operated integration and differentiation related to trigonometric function. (3) students have not understood the concept of potential in conservative force field.
