What we perceive to be wilderness is in fact just a product: a physical manifestation of the force of wildness. Attempting to manufacture wilderness while bypassing this primary element (the force of wilderness) is why ‘emulated wilds’ often feel uncanny, fake. This thesis contrasts these forces, necessitating a new negotiation between people and the environment. The Kapiti Coast has seen substantial growth in the last 50 years, resulting in sprawling suburban and commercial development across the region. While areas of landscape close to the historic ecologies of the region remain, much of it has been lost around the town centre, where development has focused in recent decades. This thesis will explore historic representations of wilderness in picturesque and romanticist painting, drawing on both previous views of the wild, more modern interpretations as well as my own personal perceptions. The aim of this design-led research is to understand how to bring a sense of wilderness back into developed areas of the Kapiti Coast. In order to do this, I will explore how designing using digital painting can create a stronger sensory understanding of wilderness. I will use this medium of digital painting to explore what the picturesque means within the discipline of modern landscape architecture. Within the specific Kapiti Coast context, I will identify the elements of suburbia that are underperforming in the context of the larger landscape setting and finally establish a scenario-based methodology to explore site-specific definitions of wilderness within Kapiti.

Digital media art mainly studies the methods and techniques of using information technology for artistic processing and creation. Through theoretical study, professional skills training, etc., people can master the use of digital media software and have the ability to use digital technology to perform artistic processing on various types of works. This article is aimed at studying the art analysis of digital painting media based on wireless networks. In the past few years, as the country pays more and more attention to it, the level of science and technology in our country is constantly improving. At this stage, it has entered a new media environment using digital media. In the method part, this article proposes wireless network technology. It is believed that digital painting and traditional painting are very different in expression form and artistic concept. Digital painting transforms the static expression of traditional painting into digital form, so that they are no longer limited to the static expression of the plane. In the algorithm part, this article uses the algorithm of virtual technology to make a long-term plan for the development of digital painting media art. The experimental results of this paper show that the proportions of digital media art materials in practical technology, visual experience, and Chinese painting are 50%, 61%, and 73%, respectively, and their proportions are constantly increasing, occupying an important role in the field of digital media art.

Article is devoted to the research of art process features in digital painting. The retrospective analysis of art process in digital painting is reviewed. By means of the Venn diagram the basic properties of creative process in digital and non-digital painting are compared. It is shown that the art product of digital painting is coded into the computer. The big advantage of digital painting is that realizing an art plan, the artist can put new strokes, keeping thus each variant as the separate original. Besides, art process is realized, mainly, not on a stretcher but on a virtual plane — the computer monitor. It is established that the modern fine arts and technologies develop in the conditions of interference and interdependence.

Interactive digital art can be a beneficial therapeutic intervention for a variety of populations, but specifically for the population of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Interactive digital art uses the engagement of the participant to create a digital form of art. The purpose of this literature review is to explore the effects that interactive art has on individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Interactive arts discussed were used in a variety of settings ranging from sand art, to using video games, or interactive art exhibits. Sand art and other digital painting methods were proven to be beneficial in improving cognitive functioning and social aspects of those with intellectual disabilities. While exploring the various settings, participant feedback was given in association with using interactive digital art.
