The ever increasing number of major traffic accidents around the world can be significantly reduced if modern technology is incorporated within the automobile to assess the physical condition of the driver as well as the outside situation of the automobile at regular intervals during the movement of the vehicle and preventive measures are automatically taken for the safety of all concerned entities, both within the vehicle and outside the vehicle. In this paper, design of a model incorporated with four sensors, namely, Eye Blink Sensor, Ultrasonic Sensor, Alcohol Sensor and MEMS Accelerometer, is presented which can monitor the physical state of the driver and the outside situation of the vehicle at regular intervals during his/her driving and raise an audible alarm within the vehicle to alert the driver. The prototype uses Eye Blink Sensor, Ultrasonic Sensor, Alcohol Sensor and MEMS Accelerometer to assess the physical condition of the driver and the outside situation of the vehicle and raise an alarm to alert the driver if any sensor senses any change in the normal condition. The prototype of the design has been successfully implemented which leads to the conclusion that such a system can help in keeping the driver alert at all times and monitor the outside situation while driving and hence facilitate in avoidance of any traffic accidents involving driver’s alertness.

Hemodialysis is a life-preserving treatment for a number of patients with kidney failure. Hemodialysis is usually done three times per week for about four hours at a time. During the hemodialysis procedure, the patient usually suffering from many inconvenient, fatigue, stress and disturbance in the work of the heart and cardiovascular system are the most common signs. This paper provides a solution to reduce the previous problems by designing a wearable artificial kidney (WAK) taking in consideration minimization the size of the dialysis machine. The WAK system consists of two circuits: blood circuit and dialysate circuit. The blood from the patient is filtered in the dialyzer before returning back to the patient. Several parameters using an advanced microcontroller and array of sensors are considered. WAK equipped with visible and audible alarm system to aware the patients if there is any problem.

The purpose of this project was to create a device to detect infrasound communication from elephants. The device was designed and prototyped to be capable of monitoring an input signal for infrasound. If infrasound is detected, an audible alarm is sounded. This device can record audio signals for long periods of time to a digital storage device. It can be utilized for other areas of study with some modification. For example, by selecting appropriate sensors the device can be used for studying vibrations in structures. The device is low-cost so it would be able to be procured more easily and in higher quantities than more expensive and cumbersome laboratory monitoring equipment. This device could also be used as an educational and research device for students studying animal behavior in the field and laboratory. Infrasound is not limited to only elephants, but hippopotamuses, rhinoceroses and giraffes also communicate with infrasound. Environmental infrasound from sources such as wind turbines, sonic booms, explosions, tornadoes, and earthquakes can also be monitored.
