Ten years after the first introduction of Industry 4.0 at Hannover trade fair as a concept of German industry efficiency improvement, the European Commission announced a new industrial evolution – Industry 5.0 and revealed an updated representation of Industry 5.0 as a result of attaining of triad forming stability, human-centricity and industry viability. At the nexus of the fourth and fifth phases of industry evolutions, new objects arise – intelligent cyber-social ecosystems that use the strengths of cyber-physical ecosystems, changing under the influence of digital end-to-end technologies, combined with human and artificial intelligence. The purpose of this research is to present a conceptual model of an intelligent (“smart”) cyber-social ecosystem based on multimodal hyperspace within the conditions of Industry 5.0. The research methodology includes systems science, metasystemic, ecosystemic, value-based, cyber-socio-techno-cognitive approaches; concepts of platforms, creator economy, Open innovations 2.0 based on an innovative model of a quadruple helix. As a result of this research, the evolution of the establishment and development of an ecosystemic paradigm in economic science is shown. The study describes a cognitive transition from cyber-physical systems of Industry 4.0 to intelligent cyber-social ecosystems as objects of Industry 5.0. A conceptual model has been originated, in which a cyber-social ecosystem is introduced as an ecosystem of new metalevel (“metasystem”), evolving under the conditions of the transition from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0 based on cyber-social values of human-centricity, stability and viability. The model is notable for its high level of cybernetic hyperconvergence, socioecosystemic, technological and cognitive modality to achieve ethical social goals, sustainable welfare for all humanity and each individual person, taking into account the scope of planetary capacity.

This chapter surveys, discusses, and explores the entire concept of visual narrative structure, cognition, and generation from continuity-based to discontinuity-based perspectives. The model of visual narrative structure, including presentation and meaning, is expanded to explain the cognitive transition based on the rhetorical transition techniques and the rhetorical cutting techniques. The classification of the visual narrative structure, including rhetorical transition techniques and rhetorical cutting techniques, is useful for narrative simulation for discussing and exploring the entire visual narrative concept and generation. The rhetorical cutting techniques and the rhetorical transition techniques can reveal various cognitive effects such as reality effects and nostalgia effects, including difficulty. The determinacy-based narrative, the indeterminacy, the diversity, and the ambiguity on narrative can bridge the gaps between cognitive science, artificial intelligence, and narratology.

Abstract The argument that cumulative technological culture originates in technical-reasoning skills is not the only alternative to social accounts; another possibility is that accumulation of both technical-reasoning skills and enhanced social skills stemmed from the onset of a more basic cognitive ability such as recursive representational redescription. The paper confuses individual learning of pre-existing information with creative generation of new information.

How do personal mind-sets change during an organization development intervention and how are these transitions associated with the intervention characteristics? In a qualitative theory-driven case study based in South Africa, the transitions of six individuals during an appreciative inquiry were scrutinized longitudinally for first-order and second-order changes. Five individuals showed first-order changes and two showed second-order changes. The engaging and emergent characteristic of the intervention explained the majority of these cognitive transitions. A third type of change in mind-set emerged in four of the cases: the development of an appreciative stance, which we classify as a form of cognitive effort rather than a cognitive transition. We conclude that interventions focusing on positivity may lead to participants developing an appreciative stance, but successful organization development might not occur without sufficient engagement in an emergent process. We provide some guidelines for practitioners for conducting an engaging emergent change process.

This article shows that cognitive ability dynamics interact with both individual and local indicators of macroeconomic wellbeing, publicly provided goods and private goods, through 141 localities in Mexico. The link of these various goods with inequity is compared quantitatively using the concentration index decomposition. The set of individual characteristics including paternal and maternal cognitive ability, whether mother works, father’s schooling and household wealth, and the set of local characteristics including local economic activity, local public policy and local marginalization indicators, each have significant connections with the formation of cognitive ability. Living in a rural locality is associated with one fourth of inequities in cognitive ability. This is consistent with a model of human development and economic growth exhibiting aggregate macroeconomic channels through which economic geography and local governance can lead to stratification and divergence in welfare indicators. There is a long-term transition towards higher levels of cognitive ability that will take several generations to converge at the current rate.

The software development process has undergone a considerable amount of change from the early days of spaghetti code to the present state of the art of development using strategic patterns. This has caused not only changes in the toolkits that developers use, but also a change in their mindset—the way that they approach and think about software development. This study uses revealed causal mapping techniques to examine the change in mindset that occurs across the procedural to OO development transition, and lays the foundation for future studies of the OO/ pattern cognitive transition. The results indicate that there is not only increasing complexity in the cognitive maps of the OO developers, but also that there is a need for the developer to shift from routine, assembly line coding to more abstract thought processes.
