Abstract Optical communication gained popularity in past few years. Optical communication has many distinct advantages over copper cable based electronic communication. Optical switches are integral part of optical networks which are used for rerouting of packets and also plays important role in contention resolution of the packets. These switch uses fiber delay lines (FDLs) act as optical memory. In past analysis of the switch is done by considering loss, power and noise and finally bit error rate (BER); however dispersion was neglected which is an important parameter in high speed communication. In this paper, design analysis is done by considering dispersion compensation along with optical amplifier noise.

Abstract The paper presents complete analysis of differential amplifier noise figure single-ended measurement setup. The analysis is based on scattering matrix representation for the network and wave representation for noise. As a result, there are presented equations allowing the differential amplifier gain and noise figure to be de-embedded with single-ended measurements. De-embedding equations are given for the balanced amplifier and for the fully differential amplifier.

Abstract The open bit line architecture scheme is an effective method to achieve higher density memory devices. With the scaling of DRAM, we have adopted a bit line sense amplifier (BLSA) design using a shared local power line for reducing the circuit layout dimensions. As a result of this new design, the write time of the memory cell was sometimes degraded because of an increase in initial sensing noise. This paper gives a detailed analysis of the problem caused by the initial sensing noise by examination of the behaviour of the opposite data portion of the cell array matrix when the word line is not activated. Finally, we propose a design improvement to reduce the magnitude of noise peaks and the results of this improvement when implemented in the test vehicle.
