This study proposes a novel tab for the tensile testing of unidirectional (UD) carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic polyamide 6 (CF/PA6) to reduce stress concentration at the tab end. The length of the new tab is identical to that of the UD CF/PA6 specimen to avoid a sudden change in geometry that is typically observed in a conventional tab end. Additionally, three types of UD CF/PA6 laminates from different manufacturers are used to fabricate tensile specimens. Specimens with a new tab and a conventional nontapered tab are tested under quasi-static tension. Finite element simulations of tensile testing are also performed for specimens with two types of tabs. The experimental and simulation results demonstrate that the newly designed tab reduces the stress concentration at the tab end by approximately 10% and improves the estimates of tensile strength for the UD thermoplastic composite laminates.

Layout for K node of steel tubular UHV transmission tower is analyzed in systematic and all-sided with finite element calculation in this paper. The recommendation is that as no applicable formula is available at present, existing specification can still be used for calculation but with a safety margin of more than 10%. K node connected in intersecting welding manner with appropriate stiffening rib will improve the stress, gender more uniformed stress distribution, and effectively reduce stress concentration. Welding connection features smaller displacement and maximum stress and more uniformed stress distribution relative to plug-in connection, therefore it is recommended to be used for K node with slope.

This article studied the wire rope net bottom connection system by an experiment which was researching on four class and seven different kinds materials. Then we get the experiment results by using different anchoring materials as anchoring end and studying the wire rope bottom connection system of tensile bearing capacity. Through the experiment and data analysis, we can draw conclusions that: Application in general situations, we can use M8 stereotypes retractor, but need to expand the curvature of the top ring, while using smooth design scheme to reduce stress concentration. Used in critical situations, we had better use special M14 bolt anchor, which has a higher bearing capacity and security. The presented methods in this paper are feasible and practical.

The large deformation of powder molding pressing machine in the load affects the accuracy of the machine. The model of powder molding press was simplified by finite element method. ANSYS software was employed to simulate the location of the frame deformation in load, deformation and stress distribution of the real case. The sizes and structures of the powder molding pressing frame were changed, such as adding stiffeners on the both sides of the frame support shelf to improve the support plate bending rigidity and resistance to flex capacity. The results showed that the increasing thickness of the steel plate can reduce stress concentration. The overall deformation reduced from the original 0.361688mm to 0.254033mm. The maximum deformation area transferred from the support rack of the frame to the edge of mold shelf. The deformation of Y direction is reduced from 0.336271mm to 0.186853mm. The optimized deformation of the rack and the mold shelf significantly is reduced.
