Abstract In this paper, a method for identifying and decoupling geometric errors of rotation axes using vision measurement is proposed. Based on screw theory and exponential product formula, identification equations of position-dependent geometric errors (PDGEs) and position-independent geometric errors (PIGEs) of the rotation axes are established. The mapping relationships between the error twist and geometric errors are established. The error model provides the coupling mechanism of PDGEs and PIGEs. Furthermore, a progressive decoupling method is proposed to separate PDGEs and PIGEs without additional assumptions. The pose parameters, required for solving the identification equations, are obtained by visual measurement. Then, the error terms of PIGEs and PDGEs are determined. Lastly, the error calibration of the rotation axes is investigated, thus providing an average rotary table orientation error reduction of 28.1% compared to the situation before calibration.

In this paper, we present the design and implementation tests of a water vapor radiometer (WVR) suitable for very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) observation. We describe the calibration method with an analysis of the sources of measurement errors. The experimental results show that the long-term measurement accuracy of the brightness temperature of the water vapor radiometer can reach 0.2 K under arbitrary ambient conditions by absolute calibration, receiver gain error calibration, and antenna feeder system temperature noise error calibration. Furthermore, we present a method for measurements of the calibration error of the oblique path measurement. This results in an oblique path wet delay measurement accuracy of the water vapor radiometer reaching 20 mm (within one month).

In the microphone array, the phase error of each microphone causes a deviation in sound source localization. At present, there is a lack of effective methods for phase error calibration of the entire microphone array. In order to solve this problem, a phase mismatch calculation method based on multiple sound sources is proposed. This method requires collecting data from multiple sound sources in turn, and constructing a nonlinear equation setthrough the signal delay and the geometric relationship between the microphones and the sound source positions. The phase mismatch of each microphone can be solved from the nonlinear equation set. Taking the single frequency signal as an example, the feasibility of the method is verified by experiments in a semi-anechoic chamber. The phase mismatches are compared with the calibration results of exchanging microphone. The difference of the phase error values measured by the two methods is small. The experiment also shows that the accuracy of sound source localization by beamforming is improved. The method is efficient for phase error calibration of arrays with a large number of microphones.

There are generally complex features with large curvature or narrow space on surfaces of complicated tiny parts, which makes high-precision measurements of their three-dimensional (3D) overall profiles a long-lasting industrial problem. This paper proposes a feasible measurement solution to this problem, by designing a cradle-type point-scanning five-axis measurement system. All the key technology of this system is also studied from the system construction to the actual measurement process, and the measurement accuracy is improved through error calibration and compensation. Finally, the feasibility is proved by engineering realization. The measurement capability of the system is verified by measuring workpieces such as cross cylinders and microtriangular pyramids.
