This study focuses on senior citizens who are participating in fashion modeling classes. Modeling classes are one of the most prominent educational leisure activities that has recently garnered the attention of the elderly population. The effect of flow experience in modeling classes on perceived happiness in life was considered. Since the activities related to modeling classes are related to fashion and appearance, the mediating roles of -confidence in fashion and appearance satisfaction were included as hypotheses. Survey data of 168 women aged 50 years or older were analyzed using the PROCESS macro for SPSS and SmartPLS. Flow experience was found to have a positive effect on subjective happiness, confidence in fashion, and appearance satisfaction. However, confidence in fashion had a significant impact on appearance satisfaction but not on subjective happiness. Appearance satisfaction also had a significant effect on subjective happiness. Appearance satisfaction had a significant mediation effect from flow experience to subjective happiness, but -confidence in fashion did not have significant influence in the process. However, the serial multiple mediation effect through confidence in fashion and appearance satisfaction was detected to be significant from flow experience to subjective happiness. The results are expected to help establish the direction of leisure education programs for seniors and bring progress to the research agenda on the impact of fashion confidence appearance satisfaction on senior citizens.

Background: Body dissatisfaction can have negative implications on health and wellbeing. Aims: Women working within the aesthetics sector have been identified as being vulnerable to body dissatisfaction and disordered eating; however, research exploring this population is scarce. This research aimed to investigate the area further. Methods: Online surveys and interviews were used to explore the body image experiences of 41 women working in the aesthetics sector. Findings: Thematic analysis highlighted three themes: a feeling that looking ‘good’ was necessitated by their profession; ubiquitous and inevitable nature of appearance comparisons; and an appearance satisfaction dichotomy, with some reporting feeling satisfied and others dissatisfied. Conclusion: The body image experiences of women working in the aesthetic sector are mixed and can be complex. The implications of these findings and directions for future research are discussed.

This study attempted to unveil correlations among appearance satisfaction, psychological well-being, and interpersonal relationships among college students to contribute to the development of a mental health promotion program. Analysis results found the following: As satisfaction with body image and subjective appearance satisfaction increased, life's purpose also improved. In other words, with a higher appearance satisfaction, psychological well-being increased. Concerning the effects of appearance satisfaction on interpersonal relationships, as satisfaction with body image and appearance satisfaction increased, ‘satisfaction,’ ‘communication,’ and ‘intimacy’ improved, thereby forming positive interpersonal relationships. Regarding the influence of psychological well-being on interpersonal relationships, as psychological well-being improved, there was a greater possibility of maintaining a positive relationship with a good quality of life and a high level of intimacy. This study is meaningful because it confirmed that appearance satisfaction influences psychological well-being and interpersonal relationships in college students. However, this study was performed on students from a certain region only. Therefore, there should be further studies on more extensive populations.
