Predicting Facebook Group Relationship

Facebook has become the leading social networking site in most countries worldwide. It provides a diverse platform that caters to social, educational and entertainment needs of a user. So, this paper has focused on the Sociocentric Analysis of Facebook. It predicts group relationship of the Facebook social network. The paper proposes to aggregate user’s relationships with similar interests and perspectives on the basis of the way in which they provide a reaction to a post on Facebook. The paper has selected the widely used reactions on Facebook posts. The selected reactions on posts are Like, Laugh, Sad, and Wow. In this, a fuzzy pairwise relation between two users in the social network is obtained. For every pair of social actors or users, we have extracted the total number of Facebook posts to which they have reacted in a particular way over a fortnight. The number for each reaction is multiplied with the corresponding weight of the reaction computed by Analytics Hierarchy Process. This fuzzy pairwise relationship is further employed for finding the closely linked group between users by using Ordered Weighted Averaging operator. The devised algorithm has been applied to a sample data of students connected via Facebook social network. The paper has also given several application areas for the proposed work.

2. The studio system

Carl Laemmle, Adolph Zukor, William Fox, and the other independents overthrew the Trust only to form their own closely linked group of industry power brokers. ‘The studio system’ describes how the independents moved to California and founded the Hollywood studios, including Universal, Paramount, and Fox. They brought in the stars system and created order through genres. Ever since, Hollywood has been dominated by around eight companies, although the ranks of the major studios have been shuffled many times. Much like the Trust, the Hollywood studios set out to standardize the industry through corporate control and risk management strategies. But Hollywood has proven to be more resilient than Edison and his partners.

Organophosphate resistance in vector Populations of the complex of Culex Pipiens L. (Diptera: Culicidae)

Resistance to chlorpyrifos and other commonly used organophosphate larvicides was found in Culex quinquefasciatus Say from several urban areas in Tanzania. Lower levels of resistance were found in laboratory strains of the complex of C. pipiens L. collected in Sri Lanka, Egypt, Liberia and Brazil. Crosses of the Tanzanian strains to a more susceptible strain gave results consistent with causation of the resistance by a single gene or closely linked group of genes. Electrophoresis of one of the Tanzanian stocks indicated two esterase bands of high activity. The resistance in Tanzania did not prevent larval killing by freshly sprayed chlorpyrifos, but it is suggested that a spraying would probably no longer remain effective for three months as reported in earlier field studies.
