The particle identification (PID) method based on TOF-Bρ-ΔE measurement at RIKEN arediscussed, and its application for Z = 25 – 28 neutron-rich nuclei from SEASTAR (Shell Evolution And Search for Two-plus energy At RIBF) experimental data are presented. The results including the PID for beam and residual nucleus at BigRIPS and ZeroDegree, respectively, demonstrate that the reactions of interest are well separated. This ensures the precision in the data analysis later on.

    The matter, proton, and neutron density distributions of the ground state, the nuclear root-mean-square (rms) radii, and the elastic form factors of a two- neutron, 8He and 26F, halo nuclei have been studied by the three body model of  within the harmonic oscillator (HO) and Woods-Saxon (WS) radial wave functions. The calculated results show that the two body model within the HO and WS radial wave functions succeeds in reproducing the neutron halo in these exotic nuclei. Moreover, the Glauber model at high energy (above several hundred MeV) has been used to calculate the rms radii and reaction cross sections of these nuclei.

One of the most complicated problems of experimental nuclear physics is the synthesis of exotic nuclei near the boundaries of stability. These nuclei, as a rule, are 10 or more neutrons away from stable nuclei, have a short lifetime (less than 1 ms) and low binding energy. All this determines special requirements to the choice of reactions for the synthesis of such nuclei and the method of their transportation and registration. Mainly, for the synthesis of exotic nuclei, reactions of fragmentation of the bombarding heavy ion, direct reactions of the types (p, d) , (d, p) , (d, n) , ( d , 3 He), etc., as well as reactions of fission and deep inelastic transfer are used.
