This paper demonstrates a multiwavelength fiber laser (MWFL) with erbiumdoped fiber amplifier (EDFA) as gain  medium and Sagnac loop mirror interferometer as filter. Stable and flat lasing spectrum was achieved when highly  nonlinear fiber (HNLF) was inserted into the laser cavity. The number of lasing lines and extinction ratio (ER) was directly influenced by EDFA gain where at maximum setting, 14 lasing lines with ER of 19 dB were generated. The  stable and flat spectrum achieved spanned about 1.6 nm. This is due to the induced intensity dependent loss  mechanism in the cavity by adjusting the half-wave plate of the polarization controller in combination with the  HNLF. The MWFL output showed peak power variation of about 2.1 dB within 100 minutes of observation time.

We investigated multiwavelength fiber laser (MWFL) performance using different types of semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) utilizing Lyot filter as comb filter. The lasing performances of linear SOA (LSOA), nonlinear SOA (NLSOA) and booster optical amplifier (BOA) at different current settings were observed. Among the three SOAs, LSOA has the best lasing performance due to the lowest peak power difference with the highest number of lasing lines, a high ER value of 42 dB and considerable high peak power of -14.1 dBm at 550 mA. The multiwavelength laser is stable within 60 minutes at power fluctuation of less than 0.2 dB. The output spectra at 550 mA for all the SOAs are 70 nm to 80 nm wavelength difference from the ASE spectra.

This paper presents a multiwavelength fiber laser utilizing non-adiabatic tapered EDF based Mach Zehnder Interferometer (MZI) in hybrid Raman-EDF gains design with a linear cavity. A stable laser was obtained from the single pump with a 1497 nm wavelength through the employment of a 20:80 optical circulators and 99% reflective mirror. The generated backward propagating oscillates inside the laser cavity generate the stable multiwavelength output with 4 channels, which is coupled out via the 10:90 coupler and the output laser is characterized using an OSA with a resolution of 0.015 nm. The hybrid Raman-EDF gain is pumped from the external cavity by a Raman Pump Unit (RPU) and produced a stable multiwavelength laser output with SMSR of 28.9 dBm for 300 mW pump power, 30.7 dBm for 1000 mW pump power and 33.7 dBm for 1500 mW pump power.
