The aim of the study is to detect experiences related to memory, identity and heritage in comments posted on the TripAdvisor website about Casa da Tapioca. It is a predominantly qualitative research, using the comments from 2013 to 2019, with data analysis performed using the Iramuteq software and the content analysis technique. Of the 117 comments obtained, 51% were potiguares. In the word cloud and similarity analysis, <tapioca> stands out, indicating that it permeates people's imagination and evokes what is most rooted in local cuisine. Memories surfaced in the categories: old, traditional and country; identity in: rustic, simplicity, indigenous, original/handmade, Brazilian and Northeastern; heritage in: protection and maintenance. It is concluded that the cultural components present in Casa da Tapioca produce an atmosphere perceived by residents and tourists. There is a real appreciation of culture, while adding importance to the development of tourism with a strong gastronomic identity.

A hypothetical European Minimum Wage (MW) set at 60 percent of each country’s median wage would reduce in-work poverty but have limited effects on overall poverty, as many poor households do not earn a wage near MW and higher unemployment, higher prices, and a loss of social insurance benefits may erode direct benefits. Turning to competitiveness, since the MW increase to reach the European standard would be larger in euro area countries with excessive external surpluses, the associated real appreciation should help curb existing imbalances. However, a few countries with already weak external positions would experience an undesirable real appreciation.

The essay aims to answer a simple but very relevant question: how could be possible that the constitutionalists who gave the most important contribution in the theoretical building of Italian constitutional democracy were the same who, only a few years before, wrote about the fascist constitutional order with sincere interest (and sometimes with real appreciation)? Political opportunism? No. The answer lies in the paths of their constitutional interpretations that reveal the existence of a real doctrinal fracture in the Italian constitutionalist culture of late Thirties, created by a new generation of jurists.

In recent years wages in China have been rising and the yuan has appreciated, potentially eroding China’s cost advantage in manufactures. This paper explores the evolution of China’s relative unit labor costs in manufacturing over 1998-2009. Between 1998 and 2003 China’s unit labor costs fell, but since 2003 they have increased both absolutely and relative to US unit labor costs. Much of the rise in China’s relative unit labor costs can be traced to a real appreciation of the yuan against the dollar. Despite the recent rise, China’s unit labor costs remain low relative to those in most other countries.

SummaryWe analyze some potential adverse macroeconomic side-effects of aid transfers: Real appreciation of the recipient′s currency may impair the aggregate output via crowding-out productive export sectors, the so-called Dutch Disease. We use simplified balance sheets to elucidate the effects of four typical combinations of the following actions: The government may or may not spend the value of the aid transfer for nontradable goods. The central bank may or may not sell the respective reserves. If the loss of competitiveness induced by the appreciation is over-compensated by the improved productivity induced by the use of the transfer, then there is no need to worry about the Dutch Disease.
