Abstract In this paper, we study secant-type iteration for nonlinear ill-posed equations involving 𝑚-accretive mappings in Banach spaces. We prove that the proposed iterative scheme has a convergence order at least 2.20557 using assumptions only on the first Fréchet derivative of the operator. Further, using a general Hölder-type source condition, we obtain an optimal error estimate. We also use the adaptive parameter choice strategy proposed by Pereverzev and Schock (2005) for choosing the regularization parameter.

In this paper, the a prior error estimates of an embedded discontinuous Galerkin method for the Oseen equations are presented. It is proved that the velocity error in the L 2 (Ω) norm, has an optimal error bound with convergence order k + 1, where the constants are dependent on the Reynolds number (or ν − 1 ), in the diffusion-dominated regime, and in the convection-dominated regime, it has a Reynolds-robust error bound with quasi-optimal convergence order k +1 / 2. Here, k is the polynomial order of the velocity space. In addition, we also prove an optimal error estimate for the pressure. Finally, we carry out some numerical experiments to corroborate our analytical results.

AbstractIn this paper we prove optimal error estimates for solutions with natural regularity of the equations describing the unsteady motion of incompressible shear-thinning fluids. We consider a full space-time semi-implicit scheme for the discretization. The main novelty, with respect to previous results, is that we obtain the estimates directly without introducing intermediate semi-discrete problems, which enables the treatment of homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions.

Abstract This paper deals with the iterative algorithm and the implementation of the spectral discretization of time-dependent Navier–Stokes equations in dimensions two and three. We present a variational formulation, which includes three independent unknowns: the vorticity, velocity, and pressure. In dimension two, we establish an optimal error estimate for the three unknowns. The discretization is deduced from the implicit Euler scheme in time and spectral methods in space. We present a matrix linear system and some numerical tests, which are in perfect concordance with the analysis.

The elliptic problem with a nonlocal boundary condition is widely applied in the field of science and engineering, such as the chaotic system. Firstly, we construct one high-accuracy difference scheme for a kind of elliptic problem by tactfully introducing an equivalent relation for one nonlocal condition. Then, we obtain the local truncation error equation by the Taylor formula and, initially, prove that the new scheme can reach the asymptotic optimal error estimate O h 2 ln   h in the maximum norm through ingeniously transforming a two-dimensional problem to a one-dimensional one through bringing in the discrete Fourier transformation. Numerical experiments demonstrate the correctness of theoretical results.

AbstractIn 2012, Jin Qinian considered an inexact Newton–Landweber iterative method for solving nonlinear ill-posed operator equations in the Banach space setting by making use of duality mapping. The method consists of two steps; the first one is an inner iteration which gives increments by using Landweber iteration, and the second one is an outer iteration which provides increments by using Newton iteration. He has proved a convergence result for the exact data case, and for the perturbed data case, a weak convergence result has been obtained under a Morozov type stopping rule. However, no error bound has been given. In 2013, Kaltenbacher and Tomba have considered the modified version of the Newton–Landweber iterations, in which the combination of the outer Newton loop with an iteratively regularized Landweber iteration has been used. The convergence rate result has been obtained under a Hölder type source condition. In this paper, we study the modified version of inexact Newton–Landweber iteration under the approximate source condition and will obtain an order-optimal error estimate under a suitable choice of stopping rules for the inner and outer iterations. We will also show that the results proved in this paper are more general as compared to the results proved by Kaltenbacher and Tomba in 2013. Also, we will give a numerical example of a parameter identification problem to support our method.
