One- and two-step artificial aging had been performed on the 7B04 pre-stretch thick plate, whose nominal composition is similar to 7075 alloy with lower Fe and Si content. The effect of aging temper on the microstructure and properties has been studied. The research results show that T6 temper can improve the mechanical properties of the alloy greatly, yet the alloy have lower electron conductivity which is no more than 19Ms·s-1. When T73 and T74 tempers were performed on the alloy, the mechanical properties of the alloy decreased about 6~10% of the T6 strength while the electron conductivity was improved obviously. With the increasing of the aging temperature, the time that the alloy needs to get peak aging becomes shorter and the mechanical properties at peak aging status are lower. The electron conductivity of the alloy, however, becomes higher with the increasing of aging temperature. The main strengthen phase of 7B04 alloy is also η(MgZn2) phase which is same to other 7xxx series alloys.

Hydrogenated graphite-like carbon composite films containing silicon (Si) and silver (Ag) (g-C:H:Si:Ag) were prepared by middle frequency magnetron sputtering deposition in argon (Ar) and acetylene (C2H2) mixture gases. The effects of precursor C2H2 fraction on the microstructure and properties were studied. The results of Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS) revealed that the films were dominated by sp2 carbon sites. It was observed from transmission electron microscope (TEM) that the films contained nanoparticles mainly consisting of Ag, and their size increased with the decrease in the C2H2 fraction. Si was also found to aggregate in the areas where Ag nanoparticles formed in films with high Si content. The comparative studies on the frictional behaviors of films sliding against aluminum oxide were carried out in ambient air and saline solution. The g-C:H:Si:Ag films still exhibited outstanding frictional properties even when the test environment shifts from ambient air to saline solution.

The effects of microstructure on strength, toughness and corrosion resistance of reactionformed silicon carbide and heat treatment on the properties of reaction-formed silicon carbide have been investigated in this paper. The results show strength and corrosion resistance of reaction-formed silicon carbide decrease with increasing Si content. Fracture toughness shows no rule with free Si content. The average SiC grain size and bonding area of SiC grain increase during heat treatment at 1850°C. The strengths of the samples after heat treatment decrease compared with that of the samples before heat treatment due to the pores in the heat treatment bodies.
