The phase structures of one-dimensional quantum sine-Gordon–Thirring model with N-impurities coupling are studied in this paper. The effective actions at finite temperature are derived by means of the perturbation and non-perturbation functional integrals method. The stability of coexistence phase is analyzed respectively in the weak and strong coupling case. It is shown that the coexistence phase is not stable when fermions have an attractive potential g < 0, and the stable coexistence phase can form when fermions have an exclude potential g > 0.

The author contends that throughout the duration of the present conflict in NorthernIreland, the world has been repeatedly given a one-dimensional image of this culture depicting it as mainly a product of ethnicity and also a reflection of class sentiment and lived experience.As drummer and songwriter of Ruefrex, a musical band internationally renowned for its songs about the Troubles conflict in Northern Ireland, Burgess discusses the need to express Protestant cultural traditions and identity through words and music. Citing Weber’s argument that individuals need to understand the world and their environment and that this understanding is influenced by perceptions of world order and attitudes and interpretations of symbolic systems or structures, the author argues that losing the importance of symbolic structures in relation to actual events will result in failure to understand why communities embrace meaning systems that are centrally informed by symbol and ritual. In his mind, rather than seeking to promote an understanding of Protestant or Catholic reality, it is important to speculate how the practice of difference might be used in developing any kind of reality of co-operation and co-ordination

To expand the bandgap's width of the one-dimensional photonic crystal, a crystal named SiO2/Metal/MgF2 is formed by joining some metals into the crystal SiO2/MgF2. Furthermore the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method is used to explore the metals' influence on the crystal's transmission characteristics. The simulation results show that the metals joined could expand the width of the one-dimensional photonic crystal's bandgap effectively and the bandgap's width increases when the metals' thickness increases. Meanwhile the bandgap's characteristic is affected by the metals' material-characteristic. The higher the plasma frequency is, the wider the bandgap's width will be and the more the number of the bandgaps will be. On the other hand, the metals' damping frequency has no significant effect on the bandgap, but would make the bandgap-edge's transmittance decrease slightly.

An estimate of synchrotron hard X-ray incident beam polarization is obtained by partial two-dimensional image masking followed by integration. With the correct polarization applied to each pixel in the image, the resulting one-dimensional pattern shows no discontinuities arising from the application of the mask. Minimization of the difference between the sums of the masked and unmasked powder patterns allows estimation of the polarization to ±0.001.
