An approximate simplified analytic solution is proposed for the one DOF (degree of freedom) static and dynamic displacements alongside the stiffness (dynamic and static) and damping coefficients (minimum and maximum/critical values) of a parallel spring-damper suspension system connected to a solid mass-body gaining its energy by falling from height h. The analytic solution for the prescribed system is based on energy conservation equilibrium, considering the impact by a special G parameter. The formulation is based on the works performed by Timoshenko (1928), Mindlin (1945), and the U. S. army-engineering handbook (1975, 1982). A comparison between the prescribed studies formulations and current development has led to qualitative agreement. Moreover, quantitative agreement was found between the current prescribed suspension properties approximate value - results and the traditionally time dependent (transient, frequency) parameter properties. Also, coupling models that concerns the linkage between different work and energy terms, e.g., the damping energy, friction work, spring potential energy and gravitational energy model was performed. Moreover, approximate analytic solution was proposed for both cases (friction and coupling case), whereas the uncoupling and the coupling cases were found to agree qualitatively with the literature studies. Both coupling and uncoupling solutions were found to complete each other, explaining different literature attitudes and assumptions. In addition, some design points were clarified about the wire mounting isolators stiffness properties dependent on their physical behavior (compression, shear tension), based on Cavoflex catalog. Finally, the current study aims to continue and contribute the suspension, package cushioning and containers studies by using an initial simple pre – design analytic evaluation of falling mass- body (like cushion, containers, etc.).

GPS radio occultation (RO) technology can fully describe the subtle structure of the ionosphere. This paper discusses the dynamic abnormity observed by the RO data from the Constellation Observing System for Meteorology Ionosphere and Climate (FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC) before the great earthquake case in Concepcion, Chile (27 February 2010, Mw 8.8). Traditional ground-based GPS monitoring was considered as the external conditions and references to the excitation response. Using kriging interpolation, the global Nmf2 map (GNM) was first constructed to study the ionosphere deviation from the normal state. Successively, the ionosphere abnormality in the F2 region (Nmf2), vertical structure (RO profiles), and multiple heights (electron density) of traveling are unfolded. The Nmf2 disturbances in the possibility of seismic influences were excluded from non-seismic noise factors, including the external input (e.g., space weather activity, 15 February) and meteorological events (e.g., lower atmospheric forcing in quiet periods). However, the results show that there were apparent local Nmf2 perturbations for up to 5 h in the epicenter area on 21 and 25 February. The disturbances of the RO profiles and the interaction of other layers of the ionosphere implied the fluctuation signals of prominent long-wavelength fluctuations >50 km in the F layer. The ionospheric fluctuates wildly, and these wave signals considered as the trace of gravity wave propagating upward are mainly distributed at the elevation of 200–300 km. The simultaneous reaction of GNSS TEC further evidenced the potential possibility of acoustic gravity by the COSMIC RO profiles, reflecting the compounding couplings of seismo-ionosphere effects. In terms of the presentation of VLF radiation noise and the aerosol ion clusters, the electromagnetic and chemical channels have been previously completed by DEMETER and Terra/Aqua satellites. These findings implied the great potential of the FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2 system (now in the testing phase), with ~5000 soundings to investigate the subtle atmospheric stratification.

AbstractThis work suggests a connection between Landau-Zener transition probabilities between two crossing potentials in the classically accessible WKB regime and Landau-Lifshitz transition probabilities in the classically inaccessible WKB regime. It is based on the uniform Airy (UAi) approximation which represents a generalization of quantum transition probabilities for linear crossing potentials with constant coupling. The performance of the UAi approximation is tested by comparison with distorted-wave probabilities for an exponential potential model and illustrated for potentials that determine the intersection of twoab initiovibronic potential surfaces of the NO-Ar system.

In the present work we study the process of particle creation for mass dimension one fermionic fields (sometimes named Elko) as a consequence of expansion of the universe. We study the effect driven by an expanding background that is asymptotically Minkowski in the past and future. The differential equation that governs the time mode function is obtained for the conformal coupling case and, although its solution is nonanalytic, within an approximation that preserves the characteristics of the terms that break analyticity, analytic solutions are obtained. Thus, by means of Bogolyubov transformations technique, the number density of particles created is obtained, which can be compared to exact solutions already present in literature for scalar and Dirac particles. The spectrum of the created particles was obtained and it was found that it is a generalization of the scalar field case, which converges to the scalar field one when the specific terms concerning the Elko field are dropped out. We also found that lighter Elko particles are created in larger quantities than the Dirac fermionic particles. By considering the Elko particles as candidate to the dark matter in the universe, such result shows that there are more light dark matter (Elko) particles created by the gravitational effects in the universe than baryonic (fermionic) matter, in agreement to the standard model.

We put forward a measure for evaluating quantum speed limit for arbitrary mixed states of open systems by means of trace distance. Compared with some present measures, it can provide an optimal bound to the speed of the evolution. The dynamical crossover from no speedup region to speedup region happens during the spontaneous decay of an atom. The evolution is characteristic of the alternating behavior between quantum acceleration and deceleration in the strong coupling case. Under the condition of detuning, the evolution can be initially accelerated and then decelerated to a normal process either in the weak or strong coupling regime. In accordance with the uncertainty relation, we demonstrate that the potential capacity for quantum speedup evolution is closely related to the energy feedback from the reservoir to the system. The negative decay rate for the evolution results in the speedup process where the photons previously emitted by the atom are reabsorbed at a later time. The values of the spontaneous decay rate become positive after a long enough time, which results in the evolution with no speedup potential.

A rigid-flexible coupled dynamic model is established to investigate the dynamic behaviors of a disc brake system. The analytical model of the pad includes transverse and circumferential displacements. The disc is modeled using the thin plate theory. A governing equation of the motion of the disc is established. Then the first-order vibration equation is obtained using Galerkin method, considering only the transverse displacement. The friction between the pad and disk among the contacting area is estimated using an exponential model, in which the Stribeck effect is included. Numerical method is applied to reveal the influences of coupling dynamical relationships between the pad and disc on the whole system. The results show that with the variation of disc annular speed, the pad keeps vibrating with small amplitude due to the sustaining variation of the contacting pressure and friction. Stick-slip flutter happens as the velocity is lower than a critical speed and strong movement coupling between elements of the system brings earlier occurrence of the frictional flutter. Besides, for strong movement coupling case, before the critical speed, there are intermittent frequency ranges among which the amplitude is quite higher, which is due to a redistribution of friction and contacting pressure.
