AbstractWe enlarge the class of Rapoport–Zink spaces of Hodge type by modifying the centers of the associated $p$-adic reductive groups. Such obtained Rapoport–Zink spaces are said to be of abelian type. The class of Rapoport–Zink spaces of abelian type is strictly larger than the class of Rapoport–Zink spaces of Hodge type, but the two type spaces are closely related as having isomorphic connected components. The rigid analytic generic fibers of Rapoport–Zink spaces of abelian type can be viewed as moduli spaces of local $G$-shtukas in mixed characteristic in the sense of Scholze. We prove that Shimura varieties of abelian type can be uniformized by the associated Rapoport–Zink spaces of abelian type. We construct and study the Ekedahl–Oort stratifications for the special fibers of Rapoport–Zink spaces of abelian type. As an application, we deduce a Rapoport–Zink type uniformization for the supersingular locus of the moduli space of polarized K3 surfaces in mixed characteristic. Moreover, we show that the Artin invariants of supersingular K3 surfaces are related to some purely local invariants.

We study several kinds of subschemes of mixed characteristic models of Shimura varieties which admit good (partial) toroidal and minimal compactifications, with familiar boundary stratifications and formal local structures, as if they were Shimura varieties in characteristic zero. We also generalize Koecher’s principle and the relative vanishing of subcanonical extensions for coherent sheaves, and Pink’s and Morel’s formulas for étale sheaves, to the context of such subschemes.

Abstract We consider cycles on three-dimensional Shimura varieties attached to unitary groups, defined over extensions of a complex multiplication (CM) field $E$, which appear in the context of the conjectures of Gan et al. [6]. We establish a vertical distribution relation for these cycles over an anticyclotomic extension of $E$, complementing the horizontal distribution relation of [8], and use this to define a family of norm-compatible cycles over these fields, thus obtaining a universal norm construction similar to the Heegner $\Lambda $-module constructed from Heegner points.

AbstractIn their study of local models of Shimura varieties for totally ramified extensions, Pappas and Rapoport posed a conjecture about the reducedness of a certain subscheme of {n\times n} matrices. We give a positive answer to their conjecture in full generality. Our main ideas follow naturally from two of our previous works. The first is our proof of a conjecture of Kreiman, Lakshmibai, Magyar, and Weyman on the equations defining type A affine Grassmannians. The second is the work of the first two authors and Kamnitzer on affine Grassmannian slices and their reduced scheme structure. We also present a version of our argument that is almost completely elementary: the only non-elementary ingredient is the Frobenius splitting of Schubert varieties.

AbstractLet K be a field of characteristic 0. Fix integers r, d coprime with r ⩾ 2. Let XK be a smooth, projective, geometrically connected curve of genus g ⩾ 2 defined over K. Assume there exists a line bundle ${\cal L}_K$ on XK of degree d. In this paper we prove the existence of a stable locally free sheaf on XK with rank r and determinant ${\cal L}_K$. This trivially proves the C1 conjecture in mixed characteristic for the moduli space of stable locally free sheaves of fixed rank and determinant over a smooth, projective curve.

We show that the integral canonical models of Hodge-type Shimura varieties at odd good reduction primes admits ‘$p$-adic uniformization’ by Rapoport–Zink spaces of Hodge type constructed in Kim [Forum Math. Sigma6(2018) e8, 110 MR 3812116].
