Relative assessment of a road-building company with both the rating and the integral methods is demonstrated through the example of four real roadbuilding enterprises based in the Penza Region. Strengths, weaknesses and limitations of each method are outlined. It is pointed out that the integral method provides more unbiased assessment of investment appeal. Thorough financial analysis would allow to develop relevant measures to enhance investment potential and reduce investment risks of the enterprise in question. It is proposed to use qualitative variables when assessing the investment appeal of a business. For the purpose the author has developed a set of measures conducive to investment appeal enhancement.
