There has been little research exploring the effect of the number of photographs used to present a product, and the studies that have been carried out relate to experiments with a reduced number of non-informative photos. This article provides a first field study conducted on 3,658 real estate ads and shows that an increase in the number of photos decreases favourable behavioural responses for lower range properties, but has no effect in the case of higher range properties. This result is replicated and explained in an experimental study: for lower range properties, the addition of photos deteriorates the valence of mental images, decreases mental self-imagery and increases perceived worry. These variables explain the negative effect of the number of photos on behavioural responses. However, for higher range properties, the addition of photos – informative or not – does not improve behavioural responses. This ‘asymmetric revelation’ effect depending on the segment of the property market being targeted is discussed.

Discrepancies between adjacent parcel boundaries happen when marking the boundaries of land parcels in the real estate cadastre map, for example, gaps, overlaps etc. In cases where the coordinates of land turning points meet statutory admissibility, the topology of land boundaries is adjusted. The paper addresses issues related to the application of genetic algorithms for optimizing the topology of land boundaries. When applying the genetic algorithm, for the purpose of optimizing the topology of the boundaries of land parcels, methodological justification and experimental study are employed. Santrauka Žymint žemės sklypų ribas nekilnojamojo turto kadastro žemėlapyje pasitaiko nesutapimų tarp gretimų sklypų ribų, t. y. atsiranda tarpai arba susidaro sanklotos. Tais atvejais, kai žemės sklypų posūkio taškų koordinatės atitinka teisės aktais nustatytus leistinumus, derinama žemės sklypų ribų topologija. Straipsnyje nagrinėjami klausimai, susiję su genetinių algoritmų taikymu žemės sklypų ribų topologijai optimizuoti. Atliktas genetinio algoritmo taikymo tam tikslui metodologinis pagrindimas ir eksperimentinis tyrimas.

The article describes the development of registry errors detection algorithms in semantic and graphic databases of the Unified State Register of Real Estate (USRRE) using geoinformation analysis. The proposed algorithms were tested on the basis of an experimental study to identify registry errors in the USRRE data using the example of the city of Novosibirsk, the results of which revealed more than 27 thousand errors. The verification of the results obtained is carried out and recommendations on the use of these algorithms are given.

The tilted beam illumination method is used to improve the resolution comparing with the axial illumination mode. Using this advantage, a restoration method of several tilted beam images covering the full azimuthal range was proposed by Saxton, and experimentally examined. To make this technique more reliable it seems that some practical problems still remain. In this report the restoration was attempted and the problems were considered. In our study, four problems were pointed out for the experiment of the restoration. (1) Accurate beam tilt adjustment to fit the incident beam to the coma-free axis for the symmetrical beam tilting over the full azimuthal range. (2) Accurate measurements of the optical parameters which are necessary to design the restoration filter. Even if the spherical aberration coefficient Cs is known with accuracy and the axial astigmatism is sufficiently compensated, at least the defocus value must be measured. (3) Accurate alignment of the tilt-azimuth series images.

Studies have investigated the applications of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy in the treatment of hypernasality due to velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD; Cahill et al., 2004; Kuehn, 1991; Kuehn, Moon, & Folkins, 1993; Kuehn et al., 2002). The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of CPAP therapy to reduce hypernasality in a female subject, post-traumatic brain injury (TBI) and pharyngeal flap, who presented with signs of VPD including persistent hypernasality. Improvements in mean velopharyngeal orifice size, subjective perception of hypernasality, and overall intelligibility were observed from the baseline to 8-week post-treatment assessment intervals. Additional long-term assessments completed at 2, 3, and 4 months post-treatment indicated decreases in immediate post-treatment improvements. Results from the present study suggest that CPAP is a safe, non-invasive, and relatively conservative treatment method for reduction of hypernasality in selected patients with TBI. More stringent long-term follow up may indicate the need for repeated CPAP treatment to maintain results.
