Abstract To achieve super-resolution imaging, the information in higher frequency of the observed sample is collected by illuminating with a structure beam for a limited optical transfer function (OTF). In this paper, tilt illumination mode is introduced to structured illumination microscopy (SIM) for enhancing lateral resolution. More sample spectrum more than traditional SIM, can be obtained by detector. Thus, SIM with tilt illumination can be improved at the aspect of lateral imaging resolution.

Currently, surface defect detection of stamping grinding flat parts is mainly undertaken through observation by the naked eye. In order to improve the automatic degree of surface defects detection in stamping grinding flat parts, a real-time detection system based on machine vision is designed. Under plane illumination mode, the whole region of the parts is clear and the outline is obvious, but the tiny defects are difficult to find; Under multi-angle illumination mode, the tiny defects of the parts can be highlighted. In view of the above situation, a lighting method combining plane illumination mode with multi-angle illumination mode is designed, and five kinds of defects are automatically detected by different detection methods. Firstly, the parts are located and segmented according to the plane light source image, and the defects are detected according to the gray anomaly. Secondly, according to the surface of the parts reflective characteristics, the influence of the reflection on the image is minimized by adjusting the exposure time of the camera, and the position and direction of the edge line of the gray anomaly region of the multi-angle light source image are used to determine whether the anomaly region is a defect. The experimental results demonstrate that the system has a high detection success rate, which can meet the real-time detection rEquation uirements of a factory.

A 40 years old man presented with bilateral mild dimness of vision and mild glare. Diffuse and focal illumination on slit lamp biomicroscopy did not reveal any pathology. Retro-illumination on slit lamp showed faint bilateral spokes like cortical lens opacities. Retro-illumination mode on Auto-Ref/Keratometer (HRK 7000A, Huvitz, Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea) prominently revealed these insignificant bilateral spokes like cortical opacities (cataracts). Visual acuity was 6/9 in both eyes. No intervention was advisable and the patient was reassured.

A high-efficiency photovoltaic module optimized for converting the monochromatic radiation with a wavelength of 809-850 nm is presented. The module comprises four photovoltaic converters with the total area of 16 cm2, which can provide the operating voltage of 4 V in the case of laser power greater than 1 W. The laser power converters are developed on the basis of AlGaAs/GaAs structures grown by LPE and MOVPE. When operating in the uniform illumination mode, the efficiency of the photovoltaic module is found to exceed 60% for the powerful laser radiation (6.2 W).

Objectives. This study aimed to compare changes in ocular status after 3D TV viewing under three modes of illumination and thereby identify optimal illumination for 3D TV viewing.Methods.The following measures of ocular status were assessed: the accommodative response, accommodative microfluctuation, accommodative facility, relative accommodation, gradient accommodative convergence/accommodation (AC/A) ratio, phoria, and fusional vergence. The observers watched 3D television for 90 minutes through 3D shutter glasses under three illumination modes: A, complete darkness; B, back illumination (50 lx); and C, front illumination (130 lx). The ocular status of the observers was assessed both before and after the viewing.Results.After 3D TV viewing, the accommodative response and accommodative microfluctuation were significantly changed under illumination Modes A and B. The near positive fusional vergence decreased significantly after the 90-minute 3D viewing session under each illumination mode, and this effect was not significantly different among the three modes.Conclusions.Short-term 3D viewing modified the ocular status of adults. The least amount of such change occurred with front illumination, suggesting that this type of illumination is an appropriate mode for 3D shutter TV viewing.

The off-grid photovoltaic (PV) system with batteries and with the LED light source was constructed and tested in in laboratory conditions. The PV system is used for emergency illumination and it is independent of the electric grid. The PV system is suitable for example in agriculture in store, in horse barn or in outdoors place. Description of the construction and testing is presented in this paper as well as results of the tests. The PV system was self-sufficient during the summer and autumn period till the November 3, 2011. Since November the illumination mode was modified. The illumination intensity was lowered, the discharging speed was decreased.
