In the present scenario for the development of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), artificial intelligence plays an important role in path planning and obstacle detection. Due to different environments, it is always a task to achieve the proper moment for achieving the target goal while avoiding obstacles with minimum human interference. To achieve the goal with the avoidance of obstacles, individual optimization techniques with metaheuristic algorithms such as fuzzy, particle swarm optimization (PSO), etc. were implemented in various configurations. However, the optimal solution was not attained. Thus, in order to achieve an optimal solution, a hybrid model was developed by using the firefly algorithm and the fuzzy algorithm, establishing multiple features of the individual controller. The path and time optimization were achieved by a standalone controller and a hybrid firefly–fuzzy controller in different conditions, whereby the results of the controller were validated by simulation and experimental results, highlighting the advantages of the hybrid controller over the single controller.

The article deals with the problem of the yaw control of the unmanned aerial vehicle helicopter which is non-affine nonlinear by use of a novel projection-based adaptive fuzzy control approach. First, principle model and control design model of the yaw channel of the unmanned aerial vehicle helicopter are described. Then, a dynamic approximation technique is introduced to approach the non-affine model of the unmanned aerial vehicle helicopter into an affine model with variable parameters, which is applied to facilitate the design of nonlinear control scheme. Next, in the proposed controller, fuzzy controller is designed to deal with the unknown uncertainties and disturbances. Meanwhile, the projection-based adaptive law applied in fuzzy controller bounds the parameter estimation function and can also guarantee the robustness of the designed control scheme against uncertain disturbances. Moreover, the convergence and stability of the designed controller are proved by Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, the simulation results of the yaw channel of an unmanned aerial vehicle helicopter are performed to illustrate that the designed controller has good tracking performance, stability, and robustness under the condition of the time-vary uncertain disturbances.

In this paper a self-tuning Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) Controller by Genetic Algorithm (GA) applied to trajectory tracking task of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is studied. The quadrotor was chosen due to its simple mechanical structure; nevertheless, these types of aircraft are highly nonlinear. A model of a non-linear closed-loop dynamic model of three degrees of freedom (3-DOF) quadrotor is developed and implemented. Intelligent control such as fuzzy logic is a suitable choice for controlling nonlinear systems. The ANFIS Controller is used to reproduce the desired trajectory of the quadrotor in 2-D Vertical plane and the GA algorithm aims is to facilitate convergence to the ANFIS’s optimal parameters in order to reduce learning errors and improve the quality of the controller. The performance of the ANFIS-GA controller is compared with a ANFIS and a conventional PID controller. Simulation results confirm the advantages of the proposed controller and approve better performance.

Results of experimental studying radiation spatial structure of atmosphere background nonuniformities and of an unmanned aerial vehicle being the detection object are presented. The question on a possibility of its detection using optoelectronic systems against the background of a cloudy field in the near IR wavelength range is also considered.
