Recent studies in development of near-infrared luminophores focus on overcoming their disadvantages such as low quantum efficiency, limited emission power, and broad emission spectra. Rare earth (RE) elements are promising compounds in this respect as they offer a unique set of optical properties that provide narrow emission spectra and large Stokes shifts. This work reports the results of synthesis and characterization of new anisometric complexes of lanthanide(III) tris(b-diketonates) and 1,10-phenanthroline. These complexes possess light emitting-properties in the near-infrared range. Due to their structural features, these complexes allow production of homogeneous films by spin coating. These films are transparent in the visible and near-infrared ranges (transmission up to 99%). This paper demonstrates advantages of Yb(III), Er(III), and Nd(III) complexes as potential components of highly efficient light-transforming NIR coatings.

Abstract Multi-epoch narrowband Hubble Space Telescope images of the bipolar H ii region Sh2-106 reveal highly supersonic nebular proper motions that increase with projected distance from the massive young stellar object S106 IR, reaching over ∼30 mas yr−1 (∼150 km s−1 at D = 1.09 kpc) at a projected separation of ∼1.′4 (0.44 pc) from S106 IR. We propose that S106 IR experienced a ∼1047 erg explosion ∼3500 yr ago. The explosion may be the result of a major accretion burst or a recent encounter with another star, or a consequence of the interaction of a companion with the bloated photosphere of S106 IR as it grew from ∼10 through ∼15 M ⊙ at a high accretion rate. Near-IR images reveal fingers of H2 emission pointing away from S106 IR and an asymmetric photon-dominated region surrounding the ionized nebula. Radio continuum and Brγ emission reveal a C-shaped bend in the plasma, indicating either the motion of S106 IR toward the east, or the deflection of plasma toward the west by the surrounding cloud. The H ii region bends around a ∼1′ diameter dark bay west of S106 IR that may be shielded from direct illumination by a dense molecular clump. Herbig–Haro and Molecular Hydrogen Objects tracing outflows powered by stars in the Sh2-106 protocluster such as the Class 0 source S106 FIR are discussed.

A brief review of the features of the defect structure and studies of the luminescent properties of nonlinear optical lithium niobate crystals of various compositions and genesis was given. It was established that the electron-hole pair NbNb4+-O- in the oxygen-octahedral cluster NbO6 emitted in the short-wavelength region of the visible spectrum (400-500 nm), while point defects (VLi and NbNb4+-NbLi4+ bipolarons) - in the long-wavelength region (500-620 nm). At the ratio of Li/Nb≈1 the luminescence was extinguished in the visible region of the spectrum due to decreasing the intrinsic luminescence centers. It was shown that the presence of polaron luminescence in the near-IR region (700-1050 nm) was due to the small polarons NbLi4+ and impurity ions Cr3+ localized in lithium and niobium octahedra. The energy transfer between the luminescence centers in the visible and near-IR spectral regions was detected. Moreover, luminescence in near-IR regions was dominant. Doping of LiNbO3 crystals with zinc and magnesium at ZnO<4.46 mol.% and MgO<5.29 mol.% led to decreasing luminescence of intrinsic defects (VLi, NbNb4+-NbLi4+). However, there was an increase of the contribution of the short-wave spectrum component at higher dopant concentrations because of the introduction of Zn and Mg into the origin positions of Nb ions.

Avalanche silicon photodiode have been developted for near ir, visible, UV and VUV light range. External quantum efficiency have been studied in 114 - 170 abd 210 - 1100nm range. It is demonstrated that photodiode reach from 29 to 9300 electrons/photon on 160 nm with bias voltage of 190 and 303 v respectively.

Semiconductor 2D nanostructures are a new platform for the creation of modern optoelectronic devices. Layered 2D PbSe-MoS2 nanostructures with efficient photoinduced charge transfer from PbSe nanoplatelets (NPLs) to MoS2 were created. When PbSe NPLs with short organic ligands are deposited onto a thin layer of MoS2 NPLs, a decrease in their photoluminescence intensity and a decrease in the average photoluminescence lifetime are observed. When a layered 2D PbSe-MoS2 nanostructure is illuminated with IR radiation, a photocurrent appears, which indicates the contribution of PbSe NPLs to the electrical response of the system. Ultrathin layers of transition metal dichalcogenides sensitized with nanostructures based on lead chalcogenides can be used in photodetectors with a spectral sensitivity region extended to the near-IR range.
