This chapter is aim to explore the drivers of closed loop supply chain in Malaysian automotive industry. The growth of automotive industry in Malaysia is rapidly increasing. There are five drivers identified that can implement the closed loop supply chain in Malaysian automotive industry. Customer awareness has urged the manufacturers and suppliers to produce and supply more environmental friendly product. Social responsibility is the firms' obligations to ensure that their operation activities could reduce environmental impacts which can be harmful to the society. Environmental concern is the awareness on environmental preservation and conservation. Governmental legislation has been implemented to ensure the firms adhere to the government policies as to attain greener industrial practices. Waste management refers to the waste disposal system in order to reduce waste treatment costs, pollution and landfill issues. Therefore, the drivers are important elements in carrying out the closed loop supply chain in the Malaysian automotive industry.

Abstract. A recent trend in automotive industry is adding electrical drive systems to conventional drives. The electrification allows an expansion of energy sources and provides great opportunities for environmental friendly mobility. The electrical powertrain and its components can also cause disturbances which couple into nearby electronic control units and communication cables. Therefore the communication can be degraded or even permanently disrupted. To minimize these interferences, different approaches are possible. One possibility is to use EMC filters. However, the diversity of filters is very large and the determination of an appropriate filter for each application is time-consuming. Therefore, the filter design is determined by using a simulation tool including an effective optimization algorithm. This method leads to improvements in terms of weight, volume and cost.

Light weight materials which possess high strength and durability are being utilized by the automotive industry to increase fuel economy. Rapidly solidified (RS) Al alloys are currently being extensively studied for this purpose. In this investigation the microstructure of an extruded Al-8Fe-2Mo alloy, produced by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Goverment Products Div. was examined in a JE0L 2000FX AEM. Both electropolished thin sections, and extraction replicas were examined to characterize this material. The consolidation procedure for producing this material included a 9:1 extrusion at 340°C followed by a 16:1 extrusion at 400°C, utilizing RS powders which have also been characterized utilizing electron microscopy.

In order to improve the national terminology in the industry and simultaneously to coordinate it with international terms, we propose to the Ukrainian motor transport community to take part in compilation of specialized translation dictionary. The magazine «Avtoshliakhovyk Ukrainy», as indicated in the No 1 (253) 2018, have opened a new section, «Automotive Industry Dictionary», intended to publish our draft definitions of the most controversial terms in Ukrainian, with comments on their formation and scope and corresponding terms in other languages. Please, send your remarks and ideas by email indicating «Automotive Industry Dictionary» in the subject line to: [email protected].
