By using tensor analysis, we find a connection between normed algebras and the parallelizability of the spheres S 1, S 3 and S 7. In this process, we discovered the analog of Hurwitz theorem for curved spaces and a geometrical unified formalism for the metric and the torsion. In order to achieve these goals we first develop a proof of Hurwitz theorem based on tensor analysis. It turns out that in contrast to the doubling procedure and Clifford algebra mechanism, our proof is entirely based on tensor algebra applied to the normed algebra condition. From the tersor analysis point of view our proof is straightforward and short. We also discuss a possible connection between our formalism and the Cayley–Dickson algebras and Hopf maps.

A field experiment was conducted at Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI) to observe the response of N, P, K and S on a pre?released white jute (Corchorus capsularis) var. BJC?2197. The experiment was carried out by applying N, P, K, S fertilizers in ten combinations including control. From the experiment it was observed that all the treatments had significant positive effect over control on growth, yield and quality parameters. The highest fiber yield (3.21 t/ha) and stick yield (6.58 t/ha) were recorded with N90P5K30S10 kg/ha treatment. However, the best quality fiber was found with combination of N90P15K30S10 kg/ha treatment. From the economic analysis point of view, it was found that combination of N90P5K30S10 kg/ha was higher (2.30) than N90P15K30S10 kg/ha (2.04). So the former can be considered as the best combination for var. BJC?2197 in terms of BCR, yield and quality. Dhaka Univ. J. Biol. In a context of massification, students of open access programs in higher education encounter more learning difficulties than their counterparts of the regulated system. In the educational literature, these learning difficulties are mainly explained by deficiencies attributable to the students; their perception is seldom taken into account. This led us to explore such difficulties from the learner's point of view in an unregulated system, namely the economics and management courses of the Mohammed V University in Rabat. This exploration was based on a discriminant analysis conducted on a sample of 122 students. The results of this study, while confirming the important role of the student's behavioral and metacognitive commitment in the learning process, emphasize the deficiencies of the institution and the professors that also explain a main part of learning difficulties. They also highlight the lack of accompaniment of learners from their pupil status to that of students which reveal the early appearance of these difficulties.

We consider the inference problem for parameters in stochastic differential equation (SDE) models from discrete time observations (e.g. experimental or simulation data). Specifically, we study the case where one does not have access to observations of the model itself, but only to a perturbed version that converges weakly to the solution of the model. Motivated by this perturbation argument, we study the convergence of estimation procedures from a numerical analysis point of view. More precisely, we introduce appropriate consistency, stability, and convergence concepts and study their connection. It turns out that standard statistical techniques, such as the maximum likelihood estimator, are not convergent methodologies in this setting, since they fail to be stable. Due to this shortcoming, we introduce and analyse a novel inference procedure for parameters in SDE models which turns out to be convergent. As such, the method is particularly suited for the estimation of parameters in effective (i.e. coarse-grained) models from observations of the corresponding multiscale process. We illustrate these theoretical findings via several numerical examples.

We obtained a new Fe-C material, a cast iron with high chromium content. The experimental material was analyzed by microstructural (SEM electronic) and chemical (EDAX characteristic X-ray dispersive energy analysis) point of view. The addition of chromium is aimed to increase the corrosion resistance and durability of FC250 castings used on industrial scale in the manufacture of automotive brake discs. The material was obtained using an industrial scale furnace. The experimental results showed a substantial increase in corrosion resistance by the addition of chromium.
