Magnetic guidance drilling technology is use of magnetic guidance instrument measuring the distance between the signal source and the location of the instrument, and it is used to control the well trajectory to connect or parallel the target layer. And it is an effective supplement of the existing steering drilling technology. At present, the magnetic guidance drilling technology is mainly applied to drill horizontal wells in pairs for the super heavy recovery, CBM horizontal connected wells, underground soluble minerals, relief well and so on. This paper introduces the research process of the magnetic guidance prototype.

Due to the unique reservoir characteristics of the coalbed methane (CBM) in China, many technical problems have to be studied and solved in the development of horizontal wells for CBM. In this paper, based on the V-type wells, we have summarized the many techniques involved in Drilling and completion of horizontal well for CBM in Binchang mining area, such as leakage protection and sealing, geosteering while drilling, remote connection, variable density cementing, Coal seam cavitation, fiberglass casing running into the well, and etc. It is pointed out that the air foam under-balance drilling will be the development direction for coalbed methane drilling technology.

There are 10 wells located in the Shun 9 well field in Silurian system of Shuntuoguole block, 7 of them were drilled wells. The statistics of complex drilling accidents indicated that tight pull, sticking of drill tools, pump blocked and mud loss were major types of drilling accidents in building section of horizontal wells. Specially. The high drill resistance of the formation caused low penetration rate and frequently bits replacing. As a consequence, the exploration rate in this area was severely restrained. We proposed the following three technical research directions: anti-collapse technology research, long-reach horizontal well drilling technology research and countermeasures of enhancing drilling speed segment by segment along the well.

Hole cleaning was very difficult in horizontal wells and extended reach wells (ERW), which was the technical bottleneck in raising the progress and success rate of petroleum exploration and production at present. A new type of treating agent for drilling fluid (CNRJ), designed for horizontal wells and extended-reach wells, was synthesized. CNRJ was added to drilling fluids, and the rheological properties, temperature-resisting property and suspension performance of drilling fluid system were analysed. The results indicate that CNRJ has good compatibility with drilling fluid system, and the dynamic plastic ratio of drilling fluid system can be adjusted from 0.20 to 1.12. In addition, the drilling fluid system has good static suspension ability for cuttings, good heat resistance and pollution resistance.
