Abstract With the first data being recorded at Belle II, we are at the brink of a new era in quark flavour physics. The many exciting new opportunities for Belle II include a full angular analysis of inclusive $$ \overline{B}\to {X}_s{\mathrm{\ell}}^{+}{\mathrm{\ell}}^{-} $$ B ¯ → X s ℓ + ℓ − which has the potential to reveal new physics, in particular by its interplay with the exclusive b → sℓ+ℓ− counterparts studied extensively at LHCb. In this paper, we present fully updated Standard Model predictions for all angular observables necessary for this endeavour. These predictions are tailored to Belle II and include an elaborate study of the treatment of collinear photons which become crucial when aiming for the highest precision. In addition, we present a phenomenological study of the potential for Belle II to reveal possible new physics in the inclusive decay channel, both in an independent manner and in combination with exclusive modes.

Abstract The Belle II experiment will measure the rare decays B → Kνν and B → K∗νν with increased sensitivity which can hence be expected to serve as a very efficient probe of new physics. We calculate the relevant branching ratios in low-energy effective field theory (LEFT) including an arbitrary number of massive sterile neutrinos and discuss the expected sensitivity to the different operators. We also take into account the longitudinal polarisation fraction FL and the inclusive decay rate B → Xsνν. In our investigation we consider new physics dominantly contributing to one and two operators both for massless and massive (sterile) neutrinos. Our results show a powerful interplay of the exclusive decay rates B → Kνν and B → K∗νν, and a surprisingly large sensitivity of the inclusive decay mode to vector operators even under conservative assumptions about its uncertainty. Furthermore, the sensitivity of FL is competitive with the branching ratio of B → K∗νν in the search for new physics contributing to scalar operators and thus also complementary to B → Kνν and B → Xsνν.

Abstract We consider the time-dependent analysis of Bd→ KSℓℓ taking into account the time-evolution of the Bd meson and its mixing into $$ {\overline{B}}_d $$ B ¯ d . We discuss the angular conventions required to define the angular observables in a transparent way with respect to CP conjugation. The inclusion of time evolution allows us to identify six new observables, out of which three could be accessed from a time-dependent tagged analysis. We also show that these observables could be obtained by time-integrated measurements in a hadronic environment if flavour tagging is available. We provide simple and precise predictions for these observables in the SM and in NP models with real contributions to SM and chirally flipped operators, which are independent of form factors and charm-loop contributions. As such, these observables provide robust and powerful cross-checks of the New Physics scenarios currently favoured by global fits to b → sℓℓ data. In addition, we discuss the sensitivity of these observables with respect to NP scenarios involving scalar and tensor operators, or CP-violating phases. We illustrate how these new observables can provide a benchmark to discriminate among the various NP scenarios in b → sμμ. We discuss the extension of these results for Bs decays into f0, η or η′.

Abstract The $$ \mathcal{CP} $$ CP structure of the Higgs boson in its coupling to the particles of the Standard Model is amongst the most important Higgs boson properties which have not yet been constrained with high precision. In this study, all relevant inclusive and differential Higgs boson measurements from the ATLAS and CMS experiments are used to constrain the $$ \mathcal{CP} $$ CP -nature of the top-Yukawa interaction. The model dependence of the constraints is studied by successively allowing for new physics contributions to the couplings of the Higgs boson to massive vector bosons, to photons, and to gluons. In the most general case, we find that the current data still permits a significant $$ \mathcal{CP} $$ CP -odd component in the top-Yukawa coupling. Furthermore, we explore the prospects to further constrain the $$ \mathcal{CP} $$ CP properties of this coupling with future LHC data by determining tH production rates independently from possible accompanying variations of the $$ t\overline{t}H $$ t t ¯ H rate. This is achieved via a careful selection of discriminating observables. At the HL-LHC, we find that evidence for tH production at the Standard Model rate can be achieved in the Higgs to diphoton decay channel alone.

Originally thought as clean processes to study the hadronization of the weak currents, semileptonic tau lepton decays can be useful to set constraints on non-standard (NS) weak interactions. We study the effects of new interactions in \tau^- \to (\pi^-\eta,\pi^-\pi^0)\nu_{\tau}τ−→(π−η,π−π0)ντ decays and find that they are sensitive probes of these New Physics effects in the form of scalar and tensor interactions, respectively. Further improved measurements at Belle II will set limits on these scalar interactions that are similar to other low and high energy processes.

Abstract In this work we evaluate the long-distance QED contributions, induced by the magnetic-dipole corrections to the final charged leptons, on the B meson decay widths B → (K, K*)ℓ+ℓ− and ratios RK,K* = Γ(B → (K, K*)μ+μ−)/Γ(B → (K, K*)e+e−), as well as on $$ {R}_{K,K\ast}^{\tau } $$ R K , K ∗ τ (with μ replaced by the τ lepton). QED long-distance contributions induced by the Coulomb potential corrections (Fermi-Sommerfeld factors) were also included. Corresponding corrections to the inclusive decay widths of B → Xsℓ+ℓ−, with ℓ = e, μ, τ, are also analyzed for completeness. The magnetic-dipole corrections, which are manifestly Lepton Flavor Universality violating and gauge-invariant, are expected to be particularly enhanced in RK* for the dilepton mass region close to the threshold. However, we find that the largest contribution of all these corrections to the RK,K* observables do not exceed a few per mille effect, thus reinforcing the validity of previous estimates about the leading QED corrections to RK,K*. Finally, viable new physics contributions to RK,K* induced by the exchange of a massless dark-photon via magnetic-dipole interactions, which provide the leading contribution to the corresponding B → (K, K*)ℓ+ℓ− amplitudes in this scenario, are analyzed in light of the present RK,K* anomalies.

Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider is a major upgrade of the Belle experiment at the KEKB asymmetric e+e− collider at the KEK. The experiment will focus on the search for new physics beyond the standard model via high precision measurement of heavy flavor decays and search for rare signals. In this talk, we present the status of the SuperKEKB collider and the Belle II detector.

The objective of this study was to find an alternative to the Zest abutment (Zest Anchors Inc., Escondido, California) for attachment of a hair-replacement prosthesis. Standard implantology and surgical techniques were used to place the craniofacial implants and subsequent abutments. The new ERA (APM-Sterngold, Attleboro, Massachusetts) abutments provided superb retention of the prosthesis. Indications are that the many forms of retention made possible by the various abutments available can provide multiple attachment alternatives.
