Abstract We consider α′ corrections to the one-loop four-point correlator of the stress- tensor multiplets in $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 super Yang-Mills at order 1/N4. Holographically, this is dual to string corrections of the one-loop supergravity amplitude on AdS5 × S5. While this correlator has been considered in Mellin space before, we derive the corresponding position space results, gaining new insights into the analytic structure of AdS loop amplitudes. Most notably, the presence of a transcendental weight three function involving new singularities is required, which has not appeared in the context of AdS amplitudes before. We thereby confirm the structure of string corrected one-loop Mellin amplitudes, and also provide new explicit results at orders in α′ not considered before.

We calculate the quantum corrections to the entropy of a very large black hole, coming from the theory of a D-dimensional, noncritical bosonic string. We show that for D>2, as a result of modular invariance the entropy is uv finite though it diverges in the ir (while for D=2 the entropy contains both uv and ir divergences). The issue of modular invariance in field theory, in connection with black hole entropy, is also investigated.

In this paper we are considering coorections to strong interactions which are due to colored string Regge excitations. In case of a low string scale within the TeV region these higher spin excitations of quarks and gluons will lead to spectacular, universal dijet signatures at the LHC, which are true for a large class of models in the string landscape.

We present plane-wave-type solutions to the superstring effective action which have unbroken space-time supersymmetries. They describe dilaton, axion and gauge fields in a generalization of the Brinkmann metric. A crucial property of the solutions is a conspiracy between the metric and the axion field. Furthermore, due to a relation between the geometry and the gauge fields, the α′ string corrections to the effective on-shell action and to the solutions themselves vanish. We call these solutions supersymmetric string waves.
