Aiming at the problems of high performance piston head can not produced by using casting and hot die forging, the warm extrusion molding method is proposed, based on the analysis of factors influencing for forming, rational scheme of orthogonal experiment was designed, a series of analysis for simulation results by using the range analysis method and comprehensive balance method, the optimal forming process parameters combination are identified, the optimal result are verified by the DEFORM software.

Deformation behavior of Ni-based metallic glass matrix composites reinforced by short brass-fibers, synthesized by warm extrusion of gas atomized powders, has been investigated under the uniaxial compression condition at room temperature. The brass-fibers are well distributed in the metallic glass matrix and enhanced macroscopic plasticity is observed due to the formation of multiple shear bands, initiated from the interface between brass-fiber and metallic glass matrix, as well as their confinement between the brass-fibers, stemming from the constrained plastic deformation of the reinforcing brass phase.

In order to improve the performance of the piston head on the existing conditions, and the warm extrusion forming technology was put forward based on the internal combustion engine piston head traditional production process. The warm extrusion process scheme and finite element boundary conditions was designed reasonable based on research the piston head forming process, the thermal-mechanical coupling model was established. The numerical simulation of the warm extrusion forming was carried out on the DEFORM software platform. The distributions of warm extrusion forming process strain field, stress field and temperature field were forecasted through the theoretical calculation and simulation. And the production equipment tonnage and die structure form were determined preliminarily. The possible problems of forming process were discussed, and the countermeasures were also put forward, provide the reliable reference for internal combustion engine piston head forming process improvement.

Cutting pick is a kind of widely-used consumptive mining tool, however its body is easy to break in the mining producing process, the problem that pick body easy to break could be solved by using the warm extrusion forming techniques under the premise of without raising the material level. This paper mainly focuses on the structural characteristics and material technological properties of 42CrMo high-strength steel cutting pick body, and adopts the power balance principle got the approximation of the deforming force, and derived the approximate calculation formula of warm extrusion force for cutting pick body; and analyzed the temperature field, equivalent stress, strain field and metal’s flowing rate field of warm extrusion forming by adopting numerical simulation method, and verified the result with the experiment. The result shows that the material organization grains of cutting pick produced by the new technique could be refined; the pressing direction of cutting picks’ shape outline forms forging streamlines, the quality is good. In a word, this new technique could completely meet the requirement of cutting pick.

Modern cold extrusion technology has been from a traditional method developing into compound extrusion, multi-action extrusion, closed forming, divided flow extrusion and flow control forming as well as other forms. In this paper, basic principles of floating die extrusion and divided flow extrusion were analyzed. Tests and experimental practice and application of floating die and divided flow extrusion of gear were stated. Spur gear forming in application and forming processes based on exchange mandrel was detailed.
