Abstract A titrimetric and an electro-deposition method for copper naphthenate were studied collaboratively. The titrimetric method involves shaking the sample with KI and ammonium bifluoride in aqueous solution and titrating the liberated iodine with standard thiosulfate solution. The electro-deposition method involves extracting the sample with (1 + 4) HNO3 and petroleum ether, and electrolyzing the solution at 2 amps. The titrimetric method is accurate and reproducible; the electro-deposition method showed over-all negative bias.
