This paper mainly seeks to explore and answer some questions for desulfurization and denitration in thermal power plants in China. Firstly, the desulfurization and denitration technology applicated in the power plant in China at present were analyzed. It is considered that taken combination of the existed technique for purified the pollutants from the thermal power plants, not only lead to the wastage of huge amount of investment, increasing of operating costs, decreasing of the economic benefits, but also add an additional area. It is necessary to develop the integration technology of desulfurization and denitration simultaneously. Secondly the integration technology of desulfurization and denitration at present in China was briefly reviewed such as activated carbon adsorption, SNRB, etc. and most of those at a research stage include the plasma technology. In the third of the paper, the non-thermal plasma technology i.e electron-beam technique, corona discharge and dielectric barrier discharge were discussed. Finally, combined with the actual situation in China, the application prospects of the desulfurization and denitration technology using plasma discharge in the flue gas was bring up. The article also pointed out the barriers need to be overcome if the technology will be applied in power plant, as well as the development direction of desulfurization and denitration technology from flue gas in power plant in China.

Non-thermal plasma technique can be easily integrated with catalysis and adsorption for environmental applications such as volatile organic compound (VOC) abatement to overcome the shortcomings of individual techniques. This review attempts to give an overview of the literature about the application of zeolite as adsorbent and catalyst in combination with non-thermal plasma for VOC abatement in flue gas. The superior surface properties of zeolites in combination with its excellent catalytic properties obtained by metal loading make it an ideal packing material for adsorption plasma catalytic removal of VOCs. This work highlights the use of zeolites for cyclic adsorption plasma catalysis in order to reduce the energy cost to decompose per VOC molecule and to regenerate zeolites via plasma.

Nowadays, global warming is the main environmental problems all over the world. The air pollutants mainly from the burning of fossil fuels and coal in power plants, transportation, and automobiles. There are release major point emission of the atmosphere. The nitrogen oxides are the most relevant for air pollution that contribute to the formation of photochemical smog and acid rain. Numerous methods have been studied to eliminate the nitrogen oxides such as the use low-nitrogen fuels technology, the selective catalytic reduction (SCR), wet scrubbing. The aim of this research is investigated non-thermal plasma (NTP) techniques offer an innovation to eliminate both nitrogen oxide (NOx) and soot emissions from combustion. This study is used to selectively transfer input electrical energy to electrons without expending this in heating the entire gas flow which creates free radicals in the flue gases. The simulated flue gas from combustion process is applied to the system. The results showed that the prototype of nonthermal plasma system is shown the highly efficient of NOx removal was achieved. However, the optimised of NTP operating conditions are required to enhance the NOx reduction activities.
