Steel construction allows fast and economical method of construction which also fulfills the requirement of clients. Especially low-rise building such as industrial building is the most common in steel frame. There are few common types of connection that are commonly being used in the industry such as flush end plate connection and extended end plate connection. This research is conducted to evaluate the performance of end plate connection as the common steel connection in low-rise buildings. Software ConSteel is used to evaluate the performance of identified connections by analysis. At the end of the research, an optimize design of end plate connection maybe recommended based on the performance and serve as a basic of improvement and guidance of safety.

This paper presents an analysis of the fire resistance of a steel joint subject-ed to tension. The authors of this article used prescriptive rules and simple calculation models to present an impact of the value of the load on the fire resistance of the connection. Designers often evaluate the critical temperature and fire resistance time of steel elements. However, they neglect the evaluation of the above-mentioned values for steel connections. In this article a simple engineering method was used to calculate the fire resistance of the joint.

The objective of this paper is to present the behaviour of composite beam using Trapezoid Web Profiled (TWP) steel section by determining the moment resistance and the deflection of the beam with composite and non-composite connections. The TWP steel section is a built up section where the flange is of S355 steel section and the corrugated web of S275 steel section. Three full scales testing setting-up as sub-assemblage frame have been carried out. It was concluded that the use of composite connection and extended end-plate has reduced significantly the deflection and has significantly increased the loading capacity of composite beam.
