This article presents the influence of the Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA) on the mechanical properties of self-compacting fly ash concrete (M30 Grade). The RCA from local construction demolition site were employed as a replacement for natural coarse aggregate (0% - 30%) in self-compacting concrete (SCC). The Viscosity modifying material used in this study was Class F fly ash. The results indicate that recycled concrete aggregate can be replaced by an optimal 25% replacement percentage in the manufacture of SCC without significantly affecting strength and durability.

Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is a revolutionary development in concrete construction. The addition of mineral admixtures like metakaolin, which is a highly reactive pozzolana to the SCC mixes, gives it superior strength and durability. The present work is an effort to study the behavior of M50 grade SCC by partial replacement of Portland Slag Cement (PSC) with metakaolin. Its strength and durability aspects are comparable with a controlled concrete (without replacement of cement). In the present work, a new mix design methodology based on the efficiency of metakaolin is adopted. The optimum percentage replacement of cement with metakaolin is obtained based on compressive strength test results. The influence of metakaolin on the workability, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength of SCC and its behavior when subjected to elevated temperature was investigated through evaluation against controlled concrete and non-destructive testing. From the test results, it was observed that incorporation of metakaolin at an optimum dosage satisfied all the fresh properties of SCC and improved both the strength and durability performance of SCC compared to controlled concrete.

Paper Mineral admixtures being the economical alternatives to Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) for various normal and special concretes induce desirable properties to concrete such as higher flow, low heat of hydration, higher strength gain and enhanced durability. Ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS) being one of the largely used mineral admixture alongside Fly Ash as supplementary cementitious material in concrete contributes to enhanced durability properties and low heat of hydration. Various replacement percentages of GGBS at 30%, 40%, 50% and 60% are used in binary blended Self compacting concrete(SCC) in the present study. At 40% replacement level, SCC exhibited improved workability, strength and durability properties. Alccofine(Ultrafine GGBS) used in ternary blended SCC enhanced early strength gain without affecting workability of SCC to a significant extent.

<p class="Abstract"><em>The construction industry is an important thing to support the development of a country. In concrete construction, quality, strength, and durability of concrete are the main requirements of all. In urban tropical countries, carbonation is one of the essential factors that affect the durability of concrete, and it may cause corrosion of reinforced steel in concrete. Therefore, high strength self-compacting concrete may be expected as the solution, improved by pozzolanic additions, metakaolin with substitution dosage at 10%; 12,5%; 15%; 17,5%; and 20%. This study purposed to determine the effect of metakaolin and its optimum dosage to improve high strength self-compacting concrete quality on its carbonation rates. This study was done by using experimental methods. It needs a plain cylindrical concrete with 75 mm diameter and 150 mm height, and testing by SNI 03-6468-2000, EFNARC 2002, and SEM-PUPR 25-2015. The carbonation test is done using accelerated laboratory carbonation </em><em>in Structures and Materials Laboratory, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sebelas Maret </em><em>by soaking the specimens in a 4% carbonate solution for 15 days, 37 days, and 51 days, proceeded by splitting using CTM, and spray it using a 1% phenolphthalein indicator to determine its carbonation depth. Based on the results, metakaolin might improve concrete quality by reducing its carbonation rates by 15% substitution dosage of cement content, with a nominal atmospheric carbonation coefficient 3,71 mm/year<sup>½</sup>, reduced 44,41% from HSSCC without metakaolin substitution. Metakaolin addition might reduce fresh concrete's workability and fulfill self-compacting concrete requirements specified by EFNARC 2002.</em></p>

The RCA from local construction demolition site wereemployed as a replacement for natural coarse aggregate (0% - 30%) in self-compacting concrete(SCC). Different kinds of tests were conducted on the concrete specimens such as water absorption test, sulphate attack, chloride attack, carbonation test,sorptivity test, etc., When the durability behavior was taken into consideration,the summary of results indicate that recycled concrete aggregate different percentage of replacements as the optimal percentagein the manufacture of SCC without much affecting strength and durability.
