A Minor

Warthin tumor is the second most common benign salivary gland tumor that classically arises in the parotid gland. It can be synchronous, metachronous, multifocal, bilateral, or unilateral, which complicates diagnosis and management. Rare cases of Warthin tumor of the minor salivary gland are described, but no cases of unilateral, synchronous Warthin tumor involving the parotid and minor salivary gland have been reported. We present a case of Warthin tumor arising from a minor salivary gland in the left oropharynx of a 71-year-old male with a previous history of left parotid Warthin tumor, later determined to be synchronous.

Spindle cell lipoma (SCL) is a rare distinct variant of lipoma, which presents as a painless, circumscribed, slow-growing, superficial lesion on the lip and can mimic a minor salivary gland tumour. We present a slow growing lower lip lesion and its management.Case Report. A 38-year-old female gave an eight-year history of a slow-growing mass on her lower lip with intermittent change in size. She presented with a submucosal nodule and thin overlying mucosa adjacent to the vermilion border. Surgical excision was carried as the diagnostic and therapeutic approach.Conclusion. Lip SCL is rare, and surgical excision is advocated in order to exclude underlying pathology and minor salivary gland tumours.

AbstractMalignant change arising in pleomorphic adenoma of the salivary glands is uncommon, with a reported incidence of 2–10 per cent.Only one case where a pleomorphic adenoma became a clear cell carcinoma appears to have been published in the English literature. An additional case of clear cell carcinoma arising in pleomorphic adenoma of a minor salivary gland is reported and the relevant literature discussed.
