Deploying warehouses at strategic locations becomes an important issue for humanitarian relief organizations in order to improve their relief aid capability and rescue plan. The delivery of sufficient technical equipment and provision of shelter and reinforcement to victims is a significant event during relief operations. Warehouse location selection in humanitarian logistics (HL) is a challenging process because choosing a non-optimal location may cause additional problems during rescue activities. The conventional decision making tools used for a warehouse location selection problem tend to be less effective in dealing with the imprecise or vague nature of the linguistic assessment. In many situations, the values of the qualitative attributes are often incompletely determined by the decision-makers. The fuzzy set theory can capture this type of uncertainty. In this paper, a recent extension of ordinary fuzzy sets, namely hesitant fuzzy sets, is used for considering the decision makers hesitancy in the evaluation. To solve the HL warehouse location selection problem, we propose a new hesitant fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. We also present a HL warehouse location selection case study for a Turkish humanitarian relief organization by using hesitant fuzzy preference information.

Although much of the social science literature supports the importance of community assets for success in many policy areas, these assets are often overlooked when selecting communities for new infrastructure facilities. Extensive collaboration is crucial for the success of environmental and economic projects, yet it often is not adequately addressed when making siting decisions for new projects. This article develops a social asset framework that includes social, creative, and human capital to inform site-selection decisions. This framework is applied to the Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance project to assess community suitability for biofuel-related developments. This framework is the first to take all necessary community assets into account, providing insight into successful site selection beyond current models. The framework not only serves as a model for future biorefinery projects but also guides tasks that depend on informed location selection for success.

Considering the environment and human life, the importance of dangerous goods transportation should be carefully considered. Preventing damages during this transportation, anticipating the dangers, and minimizing the risks are vital components for businesses, human life, and the environment. Therefore, reducing/minimizing risks in dangerous goods transportation is a critical element of vital importance. This chapter is aimed to rate the risk factors related to dangerous goods transportation and select the most ideal warehouse locations due to the their importance for human and environmental health. There are a number of factors for that purpose. There are six provinces in the Eastern Black Sea region having the strategic function and structure. According to the decision makers' views and judgments, three provinces are determined in terms of dangerous goods transportation. Picture fuzzy sets-based AHP-TOPSIS methodology was used to analyze the problem of dangerous goods transportation and the most ideal warehouse location selection.
