The estimation of the Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) arrival is an open issue in the field of Space Weather. Many models have been developed to predict Time-of-Arrival (ToA). In this work, we utilize an updated version of the Effective Acceleration Model (EAM) to calculate the ToA. The EAM predicts the ToA of the CME-driven shock and the sheath's average speed at 1 AU. The model assumes that the interaction between the ambient solar wind and the interplanetary CME (ICME) results in constant acceleration or deceleration. We recently compared EAM against ENLIL and drag based models (DBEM) with a sample of 16 CMEs. We confirmed the well-known fact that the deceleration of fast ICMEs in the interplanetary medium is not captured by most models. We study further the deceleration of fast ICMEs by introducing, for the first time, wide-angle observations by the STEREO heliospheric imagers into the EAM model. The speed profiles for some test cases show deceleration in the interplanetary medium at greater distances compared with the field-of-view of the coronagraphs.

Constant variably acceleration motion model of flying plate is proposed and the model formula about the relationship between speed of flying plate and clearance is put forward, which provides theorotical basis for choosing optimum clearance by collision speed of different metallic materials in explosive welding industry production. High pressure impulse X radial photograph experiment was carried out, the photos of the flying stances of flying plate in different clearances were obtained and the corresponding flying speeds of flying plate were calculated. Curve fitting of the experiment data through constant variably acceleration motion model was carried out. The results show that constant variably acceleration motion model accords well with the experiment data, and the maximum speed of flying plate calculated through constant acceleration model is in good agreement with the values through theoretical calculation. Therefore, it is concluded that the motion of flying plate in the main follows the constant variably acceleration motion.

Big data is a fast-growing technology that has the scope to mine huge amount of data to be used in various analytic applications. With large amount of data streaming in from a myriad of sources: social media, online transactions and ubiquity of smart devices, Big Data is practically garnering attention across all stakeholders from academics, banking, government, heath care, manufacturing and retail. Big Data refers to an enormous amount of data generated from disparate sources along with data analytic techniques to examine this voluminous data for predictive trends and patterns, to exploit new growth opportunities, to gain insight, to make informed decisions and optimize processes. Data-driven decision making is the essence of business establishments. The explosive growth of data is steering the business units to tap the potential of Big Data to achieve fueling growth and to achieve a cutting edge over their competitors. The overwhelming generation of data brings with it, its share of concerns. This paper discusses the concept of Big Data, its characteristics, the tools and techniques deployed by organizations to harness the power of Big Data and the daunting issues that hinder the adoption of Business Intelligence in Big Data strategies in organizations.
