AbstractWritten guidance is part of a coherent support system for CBT supervisors, consistent with general developments in evidence-based practice. In theory, training manuals can help by specifying educational procedures and providing support materials so as to foster fidelity, expertise and effectiveness among supervisors. Supervision guidelines can help by offering supervisors the fruits of research and expert consensus. Together with related resources, such written guidance promises to empower professionals and to benefit patients. But progress with written guidance is very limited within clinical supervision, particularly in controlled research. In marked contrast, locally developed guidance appears to have been implemented successfully within pragmatic studies, a marked achievement when also contrasted with the general healthcare literature. Using eight criteria, the available supervision research is reviewed and conclusions drawn on developing written guidance so as to better fulfil its promise.

Cervicogenic headache is a relatively common but unique form of headache, and in China, as well as in several other countries, both diagnosis and a clear evidence-based treatment plan remain controversial. Therefore, the Chinese Association for the Study of Pain organized a meeting of pain management experts and created an expert consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of cervicogenic headache in China. This article summarizes the conclusions of the consensus group regarding the epidemiology, etiology, clinical features, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of cervicogenic headache in China.

Abstract The objective of this review was to systematically evaluate the available literature addressing the use of orthoses (splints and casts) with adult and pediatric burn survivors and determine whether practice guidelines could be proposed. This review provides evidence-based recommendations specifically for rehabilitation professionals who are responsible for burn survivor rehabilitation. A summary recommendation was made after the literature was retrieved using a systematic review and critical appraisal by multiple authors. The level of evidence of the literature was determined in accordance with the Oxford Centre for Evidence-based Medicine criteria. Due to the low level of evidence in the available literature, only one practice guideline could be recommended: orthotic use should be considered as a treatment choice for improving range of motion or reducing contracture in adults who have sustained a burn injury. To address the rehabilitation-specific gaps found in the literature regarding orthotic use in burn rehabilitation and provide guidance to clinicians, a formal expert consensus exercise was conducted as a final step to the project. The resultant manuscript provides a summary of the literature regarding orthotic use with burn patients, one practice guideline, proposed orthotic terminology and additional practice recommendations based on expert opinion. The limitations in the current literature are also discussed, and suggestions are made for future studies in the area of orthotic use after burn injury.
