ABSTRACTThis paper applies a household production framework (Becker, 1971) to infer the economic value of a cultural heritage site, namely, the Petroglyph National Monument, situated in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. The empirical analysis uses benefit-transfer techniques from three source studies: those of Bergstrom and Cordell (1991) and Boxall et al. (2003), which concern willingness-to-pay to hike and view rock art sites; and those of Rolfe and Windle (2003, 2006), which concern willingness-to-pay by Aboriginal and general populations to preserve a cultural heritage site containing rock art. The benefit-transfer analysis estimates recreational values between 3.75 million and 7 million dollars per year (depending on perceptions of the cultural attribute quality) and a nonuse value of approximately 12.5 million dollars per year. By comparison the annualized costs of developing/operating the study site are 8.5 million dollars per year. Thus a partial cost-benefit analysis suggests the study site yields net economic benefits upwards of 7.8 million dollars per year.

This study is aimed to estimate economic value of deforestation in Indonesia and contribution for forestry sub-sector of GDP in Indonesia from 2011 to 2013. This study has two main variables, economic value of deforestation and EDP. Technique used to estimate deforestation economic value is benefit transfer with Total Economic Value approach. The estimation results show that real cost of deforestation in Indonesia since 2011 to 2013 increase almost four times, or about Rp 1,5 trillion to Rp 5,6 trillion. Indonesia real value EDP in 2011 is Rp 51,8 billion, increases 1,58 percent in 2012 to Rp 52,6 billion, and decrease 0,53 percent to Rp 52,3 billion in years 2013. The contribution of deforestation for forestry subsector GDP is below one percent, but in nominal term, the deforestation always has an increased value.

Valuasi dilakukan dengan metode benefit transfer, dengan memanfaatkan database TEEB (The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity) sebagai acuan. Thus, the establishment of this research. Moreover, the research aims to estimate the value of tropical rainforest ecosystem services in several kampongs within the boundary of the East Kalimantan province. The study takes into account four kampongs, Bea Nehas, Merabu, Dumaring, and Long Duhung. The valuation employs the benefit transfer method by using the TEEB (The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity) database as reference. The result shows that the TEV (Total Economic Value) for Bea Nehas amounts to 1,25 billion USD/year, 314,1 million USD/year for Merabu, 325,9 million USD/year for Dumaring, and 202,8 million USD/year for Long Duhung. In term of TEV proportion, for all kampongs, supporting services take 0,1%, provisioning services take 45,2%, regulating services take 17,3%, and cultural services take 37,4%. Keywords: ecosystem services, tropical rainforest, East Kalimantan, valuation, TEEB database

Forest is the most dominant area in composing the role of environmental services. One of the environmental services of forests is carbon absorption services. Forests play an important role in climate change, namely as carbon sinks and carbon storage (stock). Nature Tourism Park is one of the ecosystems that becomes CO2 storage and absorbent. The study was conducted for 1 (one) month in Buluh Cina Nature Tourism Park. This study aims to determine the potential of environmental services to absorb carbon, the economic value of environmental services to absorb carbon, and how the role of the government and society in the management of Buluh Cina Nature Tourism Park. The research method used in this study is a field survey method that measures tree diameters and determines tree species to determine carbon potential, the benefit transfer method to calculate the economic value of carbon absorption  and indepht interviews to determine the role of government and society in environmental management in Buluh Cina Nature Tourism Park. The results showed that the potential of environmental services to absorb carbon  aboveground level in Buluh Cina Nature Tourism Park was 358,919 tons / ha or 345,757,150 tons when extrapolated to the total breadth of Buluh Cina Nature Tourism Park. Furthermore, the results of the calculation using the benefit transfer method of the economic  value of carbon absorbing services  in the  Buluh Cina Nature Tourism Park are Rp. 69,696,398,680, -. For the role of the government and the Society, the respondents consisted of the Head of the Buluh Cina Nature Tourism Park, the Head of Buluh Cina Village, Ninik Mamak and the Buluh Cina Village Society. The role of government and society cannot be separated from one another. The government and the society together maintain, protect and manage the Buluh Cina Nature Tourism Park in order to achieve environmental sustainability.
