This study aimed to evaluate the results of the application of a virtual learning object for the simulated evaluation of acute pain in the learning of undergraduate nursing students and to verify the opinions of the students regarding the quality of the technology. This was a quasi-experimental, non-randomized, before and after study performed with 14 students in the seventh phase of the undergraduate nursing course of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. The pre (8.84) and post-test (9.31) means revealed significant differences in learning after the intervention (p=0.03). In the qualitative evaluation the flexibility of access, access independent of time/place, freedom to decide the best learning route and the similarity with reality were highlighted. It constitutes a promising educational tool, an interactive experience, similar to reality, dynamic and constructive learning. The application of the technology has brought positive results for learning about pain evaluation, contributing to fill the gap in the teaching of the thematic.

En el presente trabajo se expone un análisis acerca de cómo con el transcurrir de los últimos años, la Realidad Aumentada (Augmented Reality) RA se ha posicionado como una tecnología que se ha acercado a diferentes entornos de la sociedad, referidos a la publicidad, el mercadeo, los videojuegos y, principalmente, el impacto que ha generado en la educación. Se abordó la descripción de las plataformas de desarrollo, se aplicó el método analítico en el proceso investigativo y se presenta al lector el diseño y desarrollo de una aplicación para smartphone (app) haciendo uso de la tecnología RA y un libro aumentado que instruya y colabore con la app con el objetivo innovar y mejorar el proceso de enseñanza primaria, brindando una herramienta que presenta al usuario: interacción, entretenimiento y motive su aprendizaje. El sistema fue implementado en la Unidad Educativa Mahatma Gandhi de la ciudad de Babahoyo donde se detectó que los alumnos presentan déficit de atención y, como resultado, un bajo nivel de aprendizaje debido a la falta de nuevas formas de aprender y conocer; y pueden mencionarse como evidencias de los resultados obtenidos: el desarrollo de las destrezas y aptitudes cognitivas en los estudiantes, utilización de los dispositivos móviles como herramienta de aprendizaje y novedosas formas de reforzar su conocimiento; todo lo cual impactó en el mejoramiento del rendimiento académico.

Technology is ever-changing and ever-growing. One of the newest developing technologies is augmented reality (AR), which can be applied to many different existing technologies, such as computers, tablets, and smartphones. This chapter discusses the immersive learning process and the usage of AR into a simulated or in an artificial environment. Discussed is the background information on how the AR use in educational industries and the design process of AR immersive learning environment. The chapter also evaluates the benefits if immersive learning and AR.

Education during the pandemic experiences many obstacles that hinder all learning processes. Learning in ecology courses, in particular, has problems because it has one of the activities students have to go to the environment to make observations. The environment referred to here is the Brantas River. Brantas River is the largest river in East Java. However, the river is polluted due to human activities around the river. This phenomenon is intended to be presented as a lesson material for students to be able to improve environmental attitudes. Augmented reality assistance is useful for moving the environment that will be the subject of student observation during virtual learning.
