The infotainment is a key piece for political communication and the candidates tour the television sets showing their communication skills. Television entertainment programs such as Antena 3's El Hormiguero have taken advantage of this situation to develop a series of electoral interviews with the candidates for the presidency of the Government of Spain. This article will analyze these programs that have been broadcast during the electoral campaigns held between 2015 and 2019, both from their content and their structure. To carry out this research, the models framed in the quantitative paradigm have been used, focusing on descriptive questions from the content analysis adding the qualitative study of them. The programs that have been carried out in the electoral periods have maintained an identical structure in the interviews broadcast in each campaign prior to the elections so that all candidates were on an equal footing on issues related to current hot topics.

Batam is the third most visited city of foreign tourists due to the strategic location that closes to Singapore and Malaysia. It becomes a distinct advantage with the number of tourists visiting. In addition to marine tourism and shopping tourism, Batam has agro-tourism in the islands around Batam Island. Cafe Zore in Rempang Island's dragon fruit plantation is often visited by domestic and foreign tourists. Foreign tourists often experience difficulties in communicating with English because the employees could not speak English. It is aimed to develop employees' English skills through methods of community education and training with lecturing, discussion and demonstration techniques. The result of this training was the improvement of the English spoken ability. To sum up this PkM activity is that English communication skills are very important to welcome foreign tourists visiting and support the government to develop tourism in Batam

Background: Phlebotomy is a medical procedure that is performed frequently in the blood collection activities of medical institutions. The procedure involves close interaction with different types of patients—some of whom are cooperative and others, who, for many reasons, are not (for example, patients who have a fear of needles). Blood extraction is an essential skill in several medical specialties, such as in laboratory sciences. Lesson planning in phlebotomy education is mainly focused on procedural skills, and very little attention is given towards teaching communication skills despite the close patient interaction in phlebotomy. In this paper, I propose a lesson plan for teaching communication skills to medical laboratory sciences and nursing students based on Gagne’s instructional design. Methods: The training session included two main parts: training session using Gange’s instructional design and at the end of the session, the participants were surveyed for the effectiveness of the training session. Results: 17 participants were included in the study. Overall, the majority of the participants were highly satisfied with the effectiveness of the training session in teaching communication skills with all seven survey questions receiving a mean score of 4.58 on a Likert scale of 1-5. Conclusion: We demonstrated the effectiveness of Gange’s instructional beyond theoretical lesson planning to teach communication skills through role-play in phlebotomy education.

This article focuses on instructional lessons learned from undergraduate student perspectives of the pedagogy of the lightning talk, a three-minute oral presentation delivered without the use of supporting materials and without audience engagement in a noncompetitive environment. Drawing from the data of a mixed-methods study conducted at a metropolitan university, this article highlights key pedagogical lessons. Students’ responses indicate that instructors can implement instructional strategies that enhance students’ preparatory work and accessibility. Students also shared that they developed valuable public speaking-related skills. Overall, the findings can inform how instructors can enhance learners’ communication skills with inclusive teaching strategies. </p> </div> </div> </div> </div> <p></p> </div> </div> </div> </div>

Abstract Background Differences in face processing in individuals with ASD is hypothesized to impact the development of social communication skills. This study aimed to characterize the neural correlates of face processing in 12-month-old infants at familial risk of developing ASD by (1) comparing face-sensitive event-related potentials (ERP) (Nc, N290, P400) between high-familial-risk infants who develop ASD (HR-ASD), high-familial-risk infants without ASD (HR-NoASD), and low-familial-risk infants (LR), and (2) evaluating how face-sensitive ERP components are associated with development of social communication skills. Methods 12-month-old infants participated in a study in which they were presented with alternating images of their mother’s face and the face of a stranger (LR = 45, HR-NoASD = 41, HR-ASD = 24) as EEG data were collected. Parent-reported and laboratory-observed social communication measures were obtained at 12 and 18 months. Group differences in ERP responses were evaluated using ANOVA, and multiple linear regressions were conducted with maternal education and outcome groups as covariates to assess relationships between ERP and behavioral measures. Results For each of the ERP components (Nc [negative-central], N290, and P400), the amplitude difference between mother and stranger (Mother-Stranger) trials was not statistically different between the three outcome groups (Nc p = 0.72, N290 p = 0.88, P400 p = 0.91). Marginal effects analyses found that within the LR group, a greater Nc Mother-Stranger response was associated with better expressive language skills on the Mullen Scales of Early Learning, controlling for maternal education and outcome group effects (marginal effects dy/dx = 1.15; p < 0.01). No significant associations were observed between the Nc and language or social measures in HR-NoASD or HR-ASD groups. In contrast, specific to the HR-ASD group, amplitude difference between the Mother versus Stranger P400 response was positively associated with expressive (dy/dx = 2.1, p < 0.001) and receptive language skills at 12 months (dy/dx = 1.68, p < 0.005), and negatively associated with social affect scores on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (dy/dx = − 1.22, p < 0.001) at 18 months. Conclusions In 12-month-old infant siblings with subsequent ASD, increased P400 response to Mother over Stranger faces is positively associated with concurrent language and future social skills.

This research analyzed mathematics communication skills with the Means-End Analysis model assisted with Manipulative Property (APM), MEA with Linear System Pro application, and PBL based on the eighth graders' self-efficacy. This quasi-experimental research used a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects were eighth-graders of Public JHS 4 Adiwerna. The samples were VIII-C learners as the first experimental group, VIII-G learners as the second experimental group, and VIII-H learners as the control group. The data collecting techniques were mathematics communication skill test and self-efficacy inventory. The results were: (1) MEA with APM (82.75%), MEA with Linear System Pro (78.12%), and PBL (75%) of the learners reached the minimum mastery standard with a proportion percentage, 75%; (2) there were mean differences between MEA assisted by APM, MEA assisted by Linear System Pro, and PBL toward the learners’ mathematics communication skills, (3) there were significant differences of self-efficacy: high, moderate, and low toward the learners’ mathematics communication skills; and (4) there were interactions between learning models with the levels of self-efficacy toward learners’ mathematics communication skills. Introduction: Health literacy education, for health professionals, has been identified as having the potential to improve patient outcomes and has been recognized as such in policy developments. Health literacy, as a relational concept, encompasses individuals’ skills and how health information is processed in relation to the demands and complexities of the surrounding environment. Focus has been predominantly on the dimension of functional health literacy (reading, writing and numeracy), although increasing emphasis has been placed on interactive and critical domains. Such dimensions often guide the development of health professional education programmes, where the aim is to enhance the patient-practitioner relationship, and ultimately reduce the health literacy burden experienced by patients navigating health services. Currently little is known about qualified health professionals’ education in health literacy and communication skills, and development, implementation or evaluation of such interventions. Aim: To identify and map current educational interventions to improve health literacy competencies and communication skills of qualified health professionals. Methods: A scoping review will be conducted drawing on methods and guidance from the Joanna Briggs Institute, and will be reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) Checklist. This study will retrieve literature on health professional education for health literacy and communication skills through a comprehensive search strategy in the following databases: CINAHL; Medline (Ovid); the Cochrane Library; EMBASE; ERIC; UpToDate; PsycINFO. Grey literature will be searched within the references of identified articles; Lenus; ProQuest E-Thesis Portal; RIAN and OpenGrey. A data charting form will be developed with categories including: article details, demographics, intervention details, implementation and evaluation methods. Conclusion: Little is known about the extent and nature of the current evidence base therefore a scoping review will be conducted, in order to identify programme characteristics in relation to health literacy competencies and communication skills.
