PurposeBased on the involvement and customer-delivered value theories, this paper proposes a comprehensive framework with which to examine the relationships between food traceability system, consumer perceived value and purchase intention. The study also investigates the moderating role of consumer expertise in the relationship between food traceability system and perceived value.Design/methodology/approachSurvey approach is the primary data collection tool, through which a total of 238 useable responses were obtained. Structural equation modelling is employed to examine the hypothesized relationships among all variables.FindingsThe findings show that the information quality, perceived reliability and product diagnosticity of food traceability system affect consumer perceived value, and the perceived value and purchase intention are positively associated, while consumer expertise acts as a moderator on the relationship between food traceability system and consumer perceived value.Originality/valueThis study sheds light on how consumer perceived value of food traceability system can enhance their intention to purchase traceable food. It contributes to the theory of customer-delivered value and involvement as well as traceable product marketing strategies. From a managerial perspective, guidelines are provided for traceable food producers and marketers to implement reasonable strategies to attract consumers to purchase and promote the sustainable development of food industry.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to explore the impact of customer engagement in sales promotion on purchase intention. Utilizing value co-creation and customer engagement theories, the authors tested a model that specifies the effect of customer engagement in sales promotion on purchase intention, through its impact on perceived value and customer satisfaction.Design/methodology/approachThe model was tested with the PLSc-SEM approach.FindingsEngaging customers to store's offers by giving them the possibility to choose the type of promotional discount that suits their personal preferences and needs is positively associated with purchase intention, and that this relationship is mediated in serial by perceived value and customer satisfaction.Practical implicationsInvolving customers in sales promotion provides opportunities for retail front line management, as well as for customer relationship management to attract attention and interest.Originality/valueWhile previous research concerned situations where firms and customers collaborate in the co-creation of value, its role in the sales promotion process is yet unclear. This study starts filling this gap by taking a closer look at customer participation in the sales promotion process and its impact on customer purchase intention.

With the advent of the Internet and other digital technologies, contemporary businesses from all sectors are using social media for communication with consumers to engage them meaningfully with a brand. However, the use of social media for corporate social responsibility (CSR) communication is relatively new to the existing literature. Likewise, the impact of CSR communication through social media (CSR-S) on consumer emotions and behavior is, to date, underexplored. To address this, the present research aims to test the relationship of CSR-S on brand admiration and consumer purchase intention. The study proposes a direct relationship between CSR-S and purchase intention with a mediating effect of brand admiration. The data were collected from the banking consumers of Pakistan through a self-administered questionnaire. The authors distributed 800 questionnaires and received 463 questionnaires useful for data analysis, so the present research study response rate was around 59%. The data were analyzed using the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique in AMOS. The results revealed that CSR-S is positively related to purchase intention (β = 0.233). The results further showed that brand admiration partially mediates this relationship (β = 0.079). The survey respondents confirmed that their bank’s CSR communication helps enhance their purchase likelihood and their feelings of admiration for their bank. These findings will help policymakers at banking institutions better understand the importance of CSR communication on different social media platforms to achieve consumer-related outcomes.

ABSTRACT The research examines the role of time pressure as moderating variable to the relationship between functional value and emotional value on purchase intention on flash sale product. Data for this research were collected by online survey and administered to 150 respondents. The hypothesis testing was conducted using multiple regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. Finding of this indicated that functional value and emotional value have positive and significant effect on purchase intention. Time pressure has no negatively moderated the effect of functional value and emotional value on purchase intention.

This study aims to construct a correlational model for the determinant of consumer purchase intention on environmentally friendly packaging beverage products by examining the product image and company reputation as mediators in the association of green perceived value on consumer purchase intention with the ex-post facto quantitative approach. The target population is the community in Malang City, EastJava who is aware of the existence of cardboard packaging beverage products and intends to purchase the products. Data were collected by employing a questionnaire distributed online. 300 respondents were selected by convenience sampling. The collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) by utilizing AMOS software. The final model was obtained with an adequate Goodness of Fit value. The structural model that has been successfully constructed shows that green perceived value has no significant effect on purchase intention. Besides, the product image and company reputation play a role in mediating the impact of Green Perceived Value on Purchase Intention.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of reward structure on the customer's value perception of the program, loyalty to the program and loyalty to the firm.Design/methodology/approachA 2 (type of reward) x 2 (timing of redemption) between subjects experimental design was conducted. In addition, the indirect effect of the customer's value perception of the program on loyalty to the firm via loyalty to the program is tested with Hayes and Preacher's mediation procedure.FindingsStudy results indicated that type of reward has a positive impact on the perceived value of a loyalty program. Program loyalty mediates the relationship between the perceived value of the loyalty program and customer loyalty, as well as the relationship between type of reward and customer loyalty.Originality/valueThe findings of this study demonstrate the importance of the type and timing of loyalty program rewards on customer perceptions of the value of the loyalty program. In addition, this study is a step forward in providing a deep understanding of the impact of such perceptions on loyalty. These findings fill a number of research gaps and provide tangible guidance for practitioners.

This paper analyzes the effect of offshore outsourcing on the export performance of firms, based on the theories of international business, the resource-based view of the firm and the transaction cost theory.Outsourcing can reduce production costs and increase flexibility. It can also provide new resources and market knowledge. However, the impact of offshore outsourcing depends on the resources and capabilities of firms to manage a network of foreign suppliers, and to absorb knowledge of foreign markets. Using a database of about 1,000 manufacturing companies in Mexico in 2011, we found that offshore outsourcing increases the performance of exports. The effects are stronger in export markets from which the company also imports intermediate goods. The results also show that the size of the company, the organization of intra-firm imports and export experience moderate the effects of outsourcing in a positive way.
