The magnetic properties of exchange-coupled Tb-Co/FeNi film structures obtained by magnetron sputtering were studied in a wide temperature range. It was shown that a decrease in the Zeeman energy when approaching the compensation temperature of the ferrimagnetic layer was accompanied by a change in the sequence of magnetization reversal of the layers. The efficiency of the interlayer exchange interaction varies with temperature very little.

Investigation of the magnetization reversal of a hard/soft magnetic bilayer in an external magnetic field was performed by the Monte Carlo method. The magnetization reversal curves of the magnetic bilayer are plotted for various values of the thickness of the soft magnetic layer. Also the effect of the intralayer exchange interaction and the anisotropy constant on the magnetization reversal processes was studied. The phase diagrams of the magnetic bilayer are plotted.

We report a model for the explanation of the single molecule magnet behavior of the [CuIILTbIII(hfac)2]2 cluster. The model takes into account the crystal field acting on the TbIII –ion and the exchange interaction between the TbIII and CuII ions. The energies of the low-lying levels are shown to increase with the decrease of the mean value of the z-projection of the total angular momentum of the cluster, thus forming a barrier for magnetization reversal that is in accordance with the experimental evidence.

We have studied the magnetic switching behavior of thin elliptical permalloy films with structural defects by micromagnetic simulations. The nonmagnetic void was found to tend to pin the adjacent magnetic moment, which alters the local equilibrium magnetization patterns and modifies the switching behavior of magnetization. In particular, for the case of voids close to the edge, the curling effect of voids is significant, and induces the occurrence of the multiple-stage modes of magnetization reversal, resulting in a high switching field.

The magnetization reversal processes of magnetic nanorings (Co50Fe50) with different geometric shapes are investigated. In addition to the expected onion and vortex magnetization states, other metastable states are observed in the magnetization processes. We anatomize the formation and transition of magnetic states, and the propagation and annihilation of domain walls in the reversal process through the dynamic picture. Phase diagrams for the magnetization switching behavior depending on the geometric parameters are presented. The simulation shows that the vortex state is stabilized in thick and narrow rings. The switching field from vortex to onion states turns out to increase with thickness and decrease with width and diameter.
