Ferroelectric vortex has attracted much attention as a promising candidate for memories with high density and high stability. It is a crucial problem to precisely manipulate the vortex chirality in order to utilize it to store information. Nevertheless, so far, a practical and direct strategy for vortex switching is still lacking. Moreover, the strong coupling of chirality between neighboring vortices in continuous systems like superlattices limits the application of ferroelectric-vortex-based memories. Here, we design a ferroelectric nanoplate junction to break the strong coupling between neighboring vortices. Phase-field simulation results demonstrate that the vortex chirality of the nanoplates could be efficiently tuned by sweeping local electric and thermal fields in the nanoplate junction. More importantly, the weak coupling between two neighboring nanoplates through the intermediate junction brings a deterministic vortex switching behavior. Based on this, we propose a concept of vortex memory devices. Our study provides an effective way to control the vortex chirality and suggests an opportunity for designing new memory devices based on ferroelectric vortex.

G-rich sequences found at multiple sites throughout all genomes may form secondary structures called G-quadruplexes (G4), which act as roadblocks for molecular motors. Among the enzymes thought to process these structures, the Pif1 DNA helicase is considered as an archetypical G4-resolvase and its absence has been linked to G4-related genomic instabilities in yeast. Here we developed a single-molecule assay to observe Pif1 opening a DNA duplex and resolving the G4 in real time. In support of former enzymological studies, we show that the helicase reduces the lifetime of G4 from hours to seconds. However, we observe that in presence of a G4, Pif1 exhibits a strong strand switching behavior, which can lead to Pif1 escaping G4 resolution, depending on the structural context surrounding the substrate. This behavior is also detected in presence of other roadblocks (LNA or RNA). We propose that the efficiency of Pif1 to remove a roadblock (G4 or other) is affected by its strand switching behavior and depends on the context surrounding the obstacle. We discuss how this switching behavior may explain several aspects of Pif1 substrate preference and affect its activity as a G4 resolvase in vivo.

Indonesia’s economy has grown, which has led to the growth of a business. According to BPS Indonesia, there were 26 million more businesses in Indonesia in 2016. One of them is the cosmetics industry, which the minister of the industry says is important. Because there are so many different types of cosmetic industries and so much competition, manufacturers have to change their products to meet the needs of their customers. Eyeliner is a popular product in the cosmetics industry that many people use. Following the widening of Eyeliner products, many different brands came out with different levels of quality, features, and quantity, as well as other features. Consumers may switch brands because there are so many different brands for the same thing, along with their desire to find new products. Consumers look at the quality and features of a product, as well as other product attributes when they decide to switch brands. According to the results of data processing on hypothesis testing, Implora brand eyeliner has qualities and features that make people switch brands. This is based on validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests, as well as coefficients of determination. The sampling of 100 people was used in this study, which shows that product features and product quality have a big and positive impact on brand switching. According to the results of data processing on hypothesis testing, Implora brand eyeliner has qualities and features that make people switch brands. KEYWORDS: Product Features, Product Quality, Brand Switching, and Implora Eyeliner

There is growing interest in using electric motors as prime movers in mobile hydraulic systems. This increases the interest in so-called pump-controlled systems, where each actuator has its own drive unit. Such architectures are primarily appealing in applications where energy efficiency is important and electric recuperation is relevant. An issue with pump-controlled systems is, however, mode-switch oscillations which can appear when the pressure levels in the system are close to the switching condition. In this paper, the mode-switching behavior of different generalized closed and open circuit configurations is investigated. The results show that the choice of where to sense the pressures has a huge impact on the behavior. They also show that, if the pressure sensing components are properly placed, closed and open circuits can perform very similarly, but that mode-switch oscillations still can occur in all circuits. Active hysteresis control is suggested as a solution and its effectiveness is analyzed. The outcome from the analysis shows that active hysteresis control can reduce the risk for mode-switch oscillations significantly.

The growth of Islamic banking in Indonesia has occurred significantly, one of which is in the Metro City area, Lampung Province, Indonesia. Many consumers have moved from conventional banks to Islamic banks, even this has happened to non-Muslim consumers. This study aims to describe the factors that influence the behavior of non-Muslim consumers in Metro City, Lampung Province, Indonesia, when choosing Islamic banking services over conventional banks. This is because the understanding of non-Muslim customer switching behavior is very important, especially for Islamic banking, where the application of religious principles is contained therein. This research was conducted using a mixed method with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data collection was carried out by filling out questionnaires and interviewing 40 non-Muslim customers who became customers at Islamic Bank. Furthermore, the data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA test and Post Hoc Test to see the influence of the factors that gave the most significant influence. The results of this study indicate that the factors of price, reputation, service quality, promotion, product, location, profit, coercion, and recommendations from other customers have a significant effect on non-Muslim customers to switch to services to Islamic banks with a significance value of 0.000 at ANOVA test. Of the nine factors, recommendation factors from other customers (whether friends, relatives, or family), price, and profit are the most influencing factors.

Abstract Ferroelectric hysteresis loop measurement under high driving frequency generally faces great challenges. Parasitic factors in testing circuits such as leakage current and RC delay could result in abnormal hysteresis loops with erroneous remnant polarization (P r) and coercive field (E c). In this study, positive-up-negative-down (PUND) measurement under a wide frequency range was performed on a 10-nm thick Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 ferroelectric film. Detailed analysis on the leakage current and RC delay was conducted as the polarization switching occurs in the FE capacitor. After considering the time lag caused by RC delay, reasonable calibration of current response over the voltage pulse stimulus was employed in the integral of polarization current over time. In such a method, rational P–V loops measured at high frequencies (>1 MHz) was successfully achieved. This work provides a comprehensive understanding on the effect of parasitic factors on the polarization switching behavior of FE films.
